I think sometimes being awkward makes us human. Trying constantly to be perfect is exhausting and impossible... and probably fairly boring anyway. I think embracing imperfection, and still striving to improve is the only real option.

*nods* that i did. I'm glad it resonates with you - the phrase was in my head for some time before I wrote it down on paper, same goes with the image and the feeling.

I felt I'd ruin it by watering it down into a full length poem...

gods, it's so awkward being human.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again : with only a few dynamic pen lines, you've expressed a great deal of emotion. You've also done a brilliant job of conveying different textures (hair, skin, and gnarled wood). Like so much of your work it's at once beautiful and monstrous. Another one for my faves!

I am an admirer of sketches The fragments that do not claim to be a whole, finished piece and often, they are much more interesting than a impeccable neat piece of work

I find that it's easy to lose whatver passion and sincerity the pieces contained under too much polish... I'm glad i'm not alone in this, and thanks as always for your kind feedback.

P. S. As for the phrase you summed it up with, "a difficult girl", all I can say is that I get that phrase addressed towards myself a lot. In many aspects. I've grown to think if difficult is what you are, then difficult is what you probably ought to remain.

I bow before this piece. The overall anatomy is so raw and precise at the same time. Amazing picture, even if one depicting inner torment. I love the way the arms (their touching treeish appearance), hair, the pose, and pretty much everything is drawn here. The fact the face cannot be seen enhances the brokenness of the image. Now, I cannot interpret what caused the emotion depicted as well as you always see through such things, but I must say I see a portrait of someone who's not too much of an animal, but a great deal of a feeling, hurting, genuine human being...

*blushes* I'm flattered that you liked the piece enough for it to warrant such feedback. I guess with the tree-ish arms, I was hoping to juxtapose them with the soft human body - a suggestion that occasionally, something wild, raw and hard to control , almost potentially destructive comes through from the normally fairly gentle human being. A certain conflict. You might hide your face, but can't hide who you are.
"animal" is not necessarily a bad thing, either, though it's often used as a putdown - it's just a certain way of being and responding.
And yes, i'm afraid "difficult" might be one of a number of adjectives i could adopt as my middle name.*chuckles* Thanks again for the feedback, I always appreciate it, and i'm glad my work resonates with you.

The favourite is for both the image and the comment.
Just so you know.

Why do I see the roots of trees in your arms???

An uprooted tree, pained at losing it's home.

What I see anyway. And my mind is rather bias atm.

hmm, they did turn out a bit tree-ish, didn't they... I wanted something raw, claw-like, wild - i guess tree branches are as wild and uncontrollably growing and at times, unintentionally sharp as something gets...

Well, I'm very bias towards anything that has plants or nature that ISN'T plants or nature *Laughs*.

And if you wanted that, I don't see how tree branches don't do the job well.
