Hi folks! I thought it would be a nice idea to have a tut on how to make a glass sphere with a nice refraction effect like in my former deviation here: [link] . Honestly I couldn't figure out exactly how I did it, but I think it's quiet close to it. If you have any questions about this tut, just send me a note or comment here (I LOVE COMMENTS

PS: Of course you could use a 3D programm instead, but that's not cool

I managed to make out some of it, but certain words were... unreadable.

yeah I can make out the most of it but key words and such I cant make out I mean I got half way though guessing those key words till I got it right but yeah when it came to mask layers he didn't explain this bit he just said make a mask layer like this one.... .-.

Eurgh I sound like I'm the only one having problems with the layer mask. I have no idea what to do. I click it, nothing happens, I try to edit it, it gets ugly xD if you could help I'd really appreciate it.

You'll find it in the Render-Filter menu. You must have a dark background color in the same layer to make it work best. Then set the layer blending mode to hrd light, color dodge or overlay to make it work with the layers beneath.

OK... i think i'm too dumb to follow your instructions...
You say to make a new layer before making the 2nd lenses flare, but i get message saying i cannot make a flare on an empty layer... then.... you say cropt.. and i can only seem to cropt squares/rectangles...
but for now i have come up with an alternate way of doing this.... too many layers tho xD

Err sorry I've run into another problem, when I added the new layer to add the second lens flare I filled it with black, set it to screen and it worked but every time I go to add the layer mask, it just hides the second flare and I don't see the 'sphere' shape that I should get

Hi there. First, let me ask if you already downloaded the PSD-File. If not please do so and try to find the layer where I did it. There you can see, how I cut out the shape witgh the layer mask. I think this will explain more than I can do in a few words. If you still experience problems, just let me know and I'll try to guide you through the jungle

Hey I love this tut and it works well but I've run into a small problem.
You say to put the second lens flare on a new layer, but every time I try to put a flare on the new layer it always says "Lens Flare cannot be done because the selected layer is empty"
What do I do?
