Description Okay, after two years of regaining interest in My Little Ponies, I finally finished my first custom. I originally made her for the Customs Contest over on MLP Arena, but I lost. There were so many entries in the contest that were done much better than mine. It's...humbling to say the least.

Anyway, Ever Dream here was inspired by the Nightwish song of the same name. She started out as a G3 Misty Blue who had a few minor factory flaws. I dyed her a deep purple with slightly darker purple gradients on her legs (though those don't show up too well). Once she was dry, I coated her with a thin coat of purple Acrylic Paint (to try and give her a slight 'antiqued' look. I then stuck little 'cellphone bling' crystals all over and painted silver 'swirly marks' and 'white stars' all over her body. She was then sealed with Future Floor Varnish with some Mica powder mixed in (courtesy of ~AyamePasse ). Her hair has been rerooted (via LadyDayDreamer's Rerooter Pro), with white Nylon hair from custompony.com along with some purple "Play Hair" I got from the Dollar General about two years ago, which I kept long and used a flat iron on. Her little wings came from a box of craft items belong to my granny and the 'crystal' on her forehead was in a box of Barbie stuff my mom's on again/off again boyfriend gave me.

I'm so happy with her and I don't have any current plans to sell her.

Also, sorry about the blurry pics. I tried sharpening them up a bit but to no avail. I hope everyone can make out my entry though.

Oh, and don't forget to download for the full version of this.

Thanks, sadly she got caught in flood water recently and I need to take her down and re-glue her bling as well as brush out her man and tail.

Yeah, I think retouching her might fix her though.

She's beautiful, but the wings seem to be put on backwards. I love the colours and the general look though!

Thanks. And I was trying to make her wings look like they're folded back...too bad it doesn't look like that though. Too late to fix it now.

*lol* Well, now you know 'til next time, right! And she's pretty anyway! I'll try and sculpt wings for one of mine later. And I can't sculpt...

HotaruThodt In reply to YikYik [2008-10-09 07:03:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'd probably wind up ruining both pony and wings if I tried removing them and gluing them on the other way.
I'm not good at sculpting nor can I afford Epoxy yet. I have a few ponies who need sculpting.

I think there a risk of that too, so don't!
*lol* me neither, but I found a paper-clay last week that wasn't very expensive and I think it might work well too. I'll try that out!

Umm... it's... eeh, I was looking at it today. I forgot the name. It can be bought from Panduro anyway. It says it's good for making parts to dolls and such and also for making masks and stuff like that. Sounds good to me. Light (and easy to paint on I think)!

YikYik In reply to HotaruThodt [2008-10-29 18:51:27 +0000 UTC]

I'll buy it next time I go to the Panduro store here I think. See if it's any good.
If I get it before you I'll tell you what I think of it.

Now I know the name of the brand to that paperclay! It's Silkis and you get it from Panduro. I haven't used it yet though, but it seems to be good.

YikYik In reply to HotaruThodt [2008-11-03 21:44:18 +0000 UTC]

It seems to be good. I just need to try and see if it sticks on the ponies or (like I think) it'll have to be glued on after it's dried.

Yeah, it's fun isn't it. Right now I'm waitning for a shipment of hair as well as some replacement needles for my Rerooter Pro. Ever Dream here borke one needle and bent the other.

you have a machine that does it for you???!!!! tell me where i can get this thing of wonder!! Am doing it by HAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to ArtofSilvandar [2007-10-16 07:07:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not really a machine. It's a little crayon-sized piece of wood with a needle on the end. You can get your own at rerooterpro.com. They cost about $8 (because it's in such high demand that the girl that makes them had to up the prices). Custompony also sell them (for a dollar more) and dollyhair.com just started selling them.

ArtofSilvandar In reply to HotaruThodt [2007-10-18 18:27:04 +0000 UTC]

will buy. oh yes...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to ArtofSilvandar [2007-10-18 18:41:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, LadyDayDreamer's is the cheapest and seemingly best known, but keep in mind it takes awhile for her to ship (since she makes them in bunches), and you'll needa pushpin to widen the holes (so you won't break your needle).

Oh okay. I still wish I could pull up more information on it. Did you have the pony when you were little or was it a recent edition?

scribbledperplexity In reply to HotaruThodt [2007-10-15 08:51:04 +0000 UTC]

When I was little.
Chopped a good portion of its hair off.
Poor thing.

HotaruThodt In reply to scribbledperplexity [2007-10-15 09:28:16 +0000 UTC]

Damn...if you still have the pony, you could probably restore her hair. It's just a matter of popping her head off, taking the plugs out and using of of the many methods to reroot. ^_^

She is A M A Z I N G!

Gosh, and it's only your first!!!!!! You went into a great process to make her and you got awsome results! In fact, making a full body repaint it's not always easy so I'm even more surprised on how well she came out, that color is just amazing!

I can't wait to see the next ones!

A huge recommendation about the pics! She has awsome colors but the yellow light is eating them >.< The photos really don't do her justice!!! you can try on daylight or with a white light lamp (cold light? >.< and place it in front of the pony you might have even more beautiful pics by doing this ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to BlackAngel-Diana [2007-10-11 02:18:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks you so much. Actually, she's not a fully body repaint in the tradtional sense. She was given a quick brush over to cover up errors where the dye didn't take as well as giving her the antiqued effect. She was actually dyed with RIT dye (although it came out too dark).

I'm in the process of creating a second custom as well as the long-awited Dr. Ryan custom, I just need the hair (as well as sealer and Apoxie for Ryan).

As for the light, it was hard to get a good colour for her. I thought the yellow light gave her an illuminated, glowy effect, but I see what you mean and I think I'll either borrow my mom's boyfriend's floodlight from now on or just take pics outside (if I can find a good area).

Thankies. And the winner for the 'Basic' catagory was a styling Unicorn named 'Starry Night' who was painted all over to resemble the Van Gogh painting. The overall winner was 'Entity' who appeared to be made from wood.
