Description
Assemblage (15" x 9.75" x 5.75"); mixed mediaMay be viewed in the open or closed position. There is a "window" beneath the arched bridge for a view into the interior of the case.
I wanted this one to be a little more interactive.
I am attempting something brand new (for me) this year, working with prints of my images in a more traditional sense, using the 3-Dimensionality of assemblage, creative matting and framing, and collage techniques to extend my work into the physical realm. I'm very excited about the possibilities.

I love this Yvette. I have an old case almost identical to this that has been beckoning me. You've inspired me to make something of it!

I love the Renaissance feeling of this - as well as that it is assemblage.

My dear Yvette, I love them! They remind me of a friend's works and they are just as awesome, of course... Have a look if you want [link]

Oh very nice! I like how the color palette complements the suitcase's original color. All the elements come together nicely with an interactive bonus.

How freakin awesome - Yvette, these are amazing! Are you keeping them or are we going to hear about them being in an art gallery?? Truly stunning work!!!

Hi, Ginger!
Thanks for the encouragement on my newest projects. It has been long in the thinking process.
(Remember how long ago it was that we did the collage together?)
For the moment, they are decorating my cottage, but once I have finished a half dozen or so, I may try the gallery circuit. I'm working on a 3rd one now, and I have cases and the beginnings of ideas for 2 more. I'm having a lot of fun with them, Ginger!

Oh, me likes Yvette!
I am in agreement with "doing something" with our photography, other than traditional framing and printing. Putting the hands to work for a finished piece adds more of who we are to the work.

It truly is liberating to break down the walls of doubt, or fear. There really is not much of anything behind those walls.

Seeing these makes me sad that I sold those old suitcases. Wonderful use of them and very interesting. I have often thought of using prints of my work as background for others but you are going way beyond that. You should be excited about the possibilities. Looking forward to more of these great pieces.

They're not easy to come by, these old cases (especially on my budget).
Thank you so very much for the encouragement, Diane.
