Description Assemblage (15" x 9.5" x 5.5"); mixed media

This year, my continuing focus has been on working with prints of my images in a more traditional sense, using the 3-Dimensionality of assemblage, creative matting and framing, and collage techniques to extend my work into the physical realm. I'm very excited about the possibilities.

Nice piece of work. Follows to a great deal the 'rules' of art of found objects (little or no change to items; placement gives meaning). At times I stick to this rule (f.i., Kaptein, at deviant art and at www.meurtant.exto.org). With other work I cut, saw, screw, polish, paint elements, giving these a completely new meaning (f.i., Settecolore).
Think liberty is an essential part of assemblages.

how are you: just posted new work. Q: are you in the international society of assemblage and collegae?
best wishes

Yvette...love the directions you are going. Much the same has happened to me. Camera work is wonderful, but having a true finished piece is much more rewarding...much more than anything I might do in front of the computer...although the computer may help

I love the idea of evolution in art, and to see the transition of an image through a variety of media is fascinating to me.

SO great that you thought about a cleat to fix a mooring line

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hummbuzz In reply to EintoeRn [2013-09-11 20:25:31 +0000 UTC]

Vic said the cleat reminded him of the horns of a longhorn steer (which I liked).
And Richard suggests that the metal piece I had thought was part of a spur may in fact be an oar hook.

This looks great and I also get a kick from the mix of the nautical with the rural - that is, if I'm seeing that oarlock and cleat correctly.

By jove, you may be right, Richard! I had fancied it as a spur, but an oarlock it very well could be.  I'm getting a giggle out of that now.

Everything works well together as usual!  In the thumbnail the first thing I noticed was the cleat for a handle - it reminds me of the horns of a longhorn steer, which just adds to the vibe.  Love it!

Besides the enjoyment of assembly, you must have a great time collecting the individual things that you use.  If you don't mind my asking, where do you find most of your components?
