Assemblage (15" x 9.5" x 5.5"); mixed mediaThis year, my continuing focus has been on working with prints of my images in a more traditional sense, using the 3-Dimensionality of assemblage, creative matting and framing, and collage techniques to extend my work into the physical realm. I'm very excited about the possibilities.

Collecting the bits and pieces really is a good part of the fun...Where to begin? Some things, like the wooden balls, I have just had around the house for some unknown reason or other. (I had a great time collaging, texturing and painting these 3 with pages on the Trojan War torn from an old paperback mythology book). There are street fairs and a couple of little collectibles shops downtown that I peruse on a regular basis, keeping a weather eye out for interesting (and cheap) odds and ends. Hardware stores come in handy as well. I spent an hour or so one day when I was making Gateway, just poking around in all of the aisles. As for the barbed wire, I simply put out a call to some of my rural friends, and voila!
And then, sometimes an item just steps up from out of nowhere and volunteers.
