Description
This is the sketch that will become my Anguirus Resurrection. This will change a lot before I finalize it, but here it is. On a midly sad note I have misplaced my sketchse of Rodan 2.0 and Kumonga. I wanted to post them all and get everyone's thoughts. Oh well, maybe they will turn up before I get to their ref-sheets.Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm not one to recklessly over-exaggerate, so when I say this is probably THE best redesigns of Anguirus I've seen, I certainly mean it (and it's just a sketch!)
The stance and the proportions are just perfect; he looks like an underdog ready for a fight and that's the charm of Anguirus and it's captured very well here.
Can't wait to see the final product!

Thank you very much , that is the attitude I was going for. Hopefully I get off my ass and buy a new graphic card so that I can finish this one

Comparing your prototype to GS's version, I'd say the differences in facial/beak structure, tail-club spikes, and leg posture are pronounced enough to readily separate 'em. And yes, the crown certainly helps.
Interesting note/choice regarding the jaw structure & teeth...lending Anguirus hyena-class bite force definitely adds to his already nasty melee repertoire.

I was thinking about hyenas as well

Definite anklyosaur/horny-toad vibe...neither of which is a bad thing here. Limbs are well-proportioned; the stance indicates a respectable level of agility/flexibility; that tail-mace certainly looks the part...and I dig the old-school Anky 'crown' lining Ang's cheeks & back of the skull.
At this point I have two suggestions: (a) make the upper teeth (especially the canines) more pronunced, and (b) add some form of nasal horn, as already noted. Perhaps a dual set of small, outwardly-canted horns behind each nostril?

I like the cheek horns. It is really difficult to make an ankylosaur based anguirus that doesn't seem like a rip off of GodzillaSamurai's version. I thought going with the cheek horns and a more ankylosaurs head would acheive that.
That being said, I think I have taken out tom much of what Anguirus is. I plan on adding a nasal hoen and lengthening the snout.
I hadn't thought of 2 nasal horns - I'll see wha tit looks like.
Finally, the large teeth aren't actually teeth, but modified skull/horns that basically serve the same purpose (like a turtle). The rest of teh teeth will be more like crushing molars than flesh ripping sabers.

Very cool! I agree with kaijulord though, he needs his nose spike!

add a nose horn and make the spines more pronounced on the shoulders but as long as you make him Godzilla's friend i will be pleased.

You know when I drew this I wanted to make it more like an ankylosaur than the original and I had really wanted to change the head and teeth to be more ankylosaur-like. However, now that I posted it I think I need to add in some more monster. I will definitely add the horn back and I am planning on enlongated the snout as well. Thanks for the comments.
Anguirus is still Godzilla's friend, I have the draft bio up in previous post.

looks like a very unique take on angurius. I know that it is still based on ankylosaur body type and and such, but your has its own flavor. I like it.

Wow. Anguirus looks pretty darn good here. He looks more like an ankleosaur, but still keeps the sorta croc-snouted look of the beast we all know and love. I absolutely love the way his head looks. I can't wait to see how he looks when you finish.

Thanks, I just wish I had time to finish it soon, but it will be awhile. I was, like everyone else, going for the ankylosaur look, but I wanted it to still be a monster.

haha thanks! I've always wanted a horny toad for a pet. I actually did develop kaiju based ona hirny toad as a child - I had completely forgotten about that. i was going more for the ankylosaur look, but the all the spikes do make it look a little a horned toad.
