Description I was working on Tiamat today and I got to thinking about her nemisis Bahamut the platinum dragon. Well there is very little official D&D information on Bahamut's design and most of it is pretty ugly. So after I finish my chromatic dragons I want to at least do Bahamut and a gold dragon.

Since there is not a good design for Bahamut currently I am going to try to make a new one. My aproach is two-fold. 1st - I want to incorporate elements from the 5 metalic dragons (unfortunately I don't remember which ones are going away in D4e). 2nd I want to update the original 1977 design (which I think was an attempt to combine features of the 5 metalics anyway) with the D3&4 design standards.

So here is my first quick sketch. It has a lot of gold and silver in the head, but that is to be expected. I think it may be a bit busy - but that is how I picture Bahamut. Let me know what you think and please offer any suggestions.

Thank you, but I think it needs some serious tweaks or a redesign when I get time.

I just may. Hopefully I have enough time tomorrow night to comment on at least one or two of your chromatic dragons.

As of the past several days, that cold's more/less cleared up-thanks for the well-wishes. Ah, and good eye recognizing that icon...several years ago I tried coloring the Delgadozilla pics I could find for kicks, and now wonder if posting said hashes in my 'Scraps' section (with the original artist given his well-deserved due, of course) would constitute any sort of plagaristic violation.

I think it would be a welcome addition - you should do it.

Hey, HG-just wanted to reassure you that I neither dropped off the planet nor opted to snub this latest series; I've either been laid out with the flu or busy as hades, and as such am playing catch-up when it comes to picking over my favorite artists.

Anyhow, trust me when I say I've seen far, far busier dragons both in & outside the D&D continuum, which I'm woefully unversed in. Thanks to an arbitrary purchase of the Draconomicon, I'm vaguely familiar with most of the "color-coded" main races (red, blue, green, black, white, gold, silver, bronze), several nifty subspecies (I especially dig those prickly fang dragons), and of course Tiamat & Bahamut here.

This mugshot seems appropriately 'noble' (i.e. solid, clean-lined muzzle & subdued, elegant brow structure); I detect just a hind of your Ghidorah revamp in the main horn; and that triple mohawk-fringe lends a bizarre degree of martial dignity. All told, a fairly solid (re)design base.
