Description Here is the blue dragon. Only the sketches of the red and Tiamat to go. I hope to have the red up tomorrow or Friday and Tiamat by Monday. But it will be a little while before I can make the reference sheets and shade and color these dragons.

I think I went a little overboard on the scales, but I wanted to try a whole body overlapping scales.

The 2 biggest changes from the official D4e designs are the length of the neck and the scales on the tail.

The D3 and D4 blue dragons have very short necks. Since I am making this to eventually make Tiamat I knew that would not look good. I am also found of the original design which had a very long neck - so this is my compromise.

The D3 and D4 blue dragons have heavy plate scales on their tail very much like the white dragon. I thought this was a strange similarity so I went back to a more traditional design and continued the dorsal spikes down the tail.

Having stared at this beast for several days, the only flaw I've detected involves the abrupt mid-torso truncation of that barrel chest. Otherwise, every aspect-powerful fore/hind limbs, well-proportioned talons, thick neck, rugged-looking wings, oddly familiar dorsal scutes-conveys brute saurian power....especially that skull. Those deep, brutally toothy jaws, massive cranial horn & prominent web-ears lend some serious character. Speaking of the latter, those things bear an uncanny resemblance to Titanosaurus' tail-fan. I don't suppose they open & shut in a similar fashion?

good point about the chest. i followed the reference design to closely, i should have modified the severity of the change from chest to waist.

No, they don’t currently close, but that would be an interesting modification for future designs. They remind me of baragon’s ears really, I guess that shows my lack of creativity!

Baragon or Gorgo seem like equally valid comparisons regarding the ears; those thick upper & lower ocular bones/cartilage strips are what set me on the "Tito" track. And trust me, you display more creativity than I do punctuality with these analyses.

Remake?! I knew of no such remake. Methinks a spot of Googling is in order. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yep, the person you made "Shaun of the Dead" and 'Hot Fuzz" is making the film, so I am fairly optimistic that it could be a fun take on the genre.

Let me know if you find out anything more about it.

Haven't found much yet-speaking of which, I didn't recognize that producer, and am officially that much more stoked.

I am hopeful that it will actually happen, but I'm trying not to get to excited. One: because it may never happen two: when I get to excited about a movie it usually doesn't meet my own wild expectations (a problem I am having with the hobbit live action movie).

All-too-valid points, my man. Truth be told, I haven't exactly kept up on the Hobbit front either, although I enjoy my Tolkien as much as the next dork.

I haven't kept up either. I figure the less I know the better. I am just hoping I can avoid trailers if and when they come out.

Certainly does look like it. Nice work. But again, the 3e-4e blue style was never my favorite.

I agree. There are some things that I like, but overall I think it is not the greatest.

Awesome! My favorite dragon (chromatic, anyway) and you've got him down really well. Once again, I like the less skull-like head, and the iconic horn is looking good-and it's actually on his nose, rather then the odd placement of it on the D3 one.

The scales look amazing, and I like the bit longer neck and tail. He looks more...balanced, I guess is the word I want. I like the jagged spines, and the lack of the White-esc tail plates. I love this one-my favorite so far!

Im glad you like it.

Yes, I don't like the skeletal look of the black and blue in the D3+ designs, so I had to try to change that without really changing the design to much.

Thanks. I used a different method to make the scales than I used on King Ghidorah and I think it came out pretty well. It is still time consuming - but scales just are. I actually like the short neck, just not on a blue dragon.

Thank you again for the fave too.

Thanks. I will shade and color all of the dragons after I get my tablet back up and running.
