I decided against adding the text on here, as it would breach copyright... basically this is the first pic in a series which shows Varjak basically doin some crazy Dragon-Ball-Z style power-up (well, not quite, it's a little more tastefully done, but still, you can't help but draw lines of comparison). In this image, Varjak has drawn his power into a circle of pure energy. It's in two shades of grey because the illustrations that are already in the book use this effect... and I thought it only fair to let myself do it too!Indian ink and pooter did the flat grey colouring.

heh, i know what you mean. Shoot, i can't even remember if Razor was tiger-striped... what was Sally Bones's other cat named? Luger? Maybe he was.

May I ask about your working ideas/projects? Do you pick an article from a magazine, or a section from a book etc. and invent your own project-y type things from that?

This is such an interesting style. It makes me think of Asian art a bit.

Looks like Varjak is gonna steamrolls his way over the enemies, the energy barrier is also acting like it's a forcefield. Or maybe he can strikes down the enemies like he's a pinball. It's pretty well done, except I felt that the background can be more interesting instead of just clouds and winds. What more, how come only Varjak looks more invincible in this one? No matter how, you still inspire me in many ways

Only Varjak looks invincible, cos only he has special kung-fu ninja powers... the only other cat alive at the time who possesses the power is Sally Bones, and she aint in this pic!
The clouds and fiery circle and all are meant to look like old alchemic diagrams, tho I kinda wish i'd done the clouds as japanese style scrolling clouds, come to think of it.
