Description
A few months back, FFG announced the end to their long-running Star Wars: The Card Game. This illustration based on the confrontation in the "Vader Down" comic was chosen as a tournament prize card and is the last Darth Vader card released for the game. Interestingly enough, I also created the artwork for the very first Darth Vader card in the game, and it also features Vader filling a lot of Rebel body bags. Who would have guessed that the entire card game would be book-ended by my two violent Vaders!

Welcome. The dynamics and drama are great, very evocative of that moment in the Rebels head of "Why did I take this job again?". Plus the focus and focal length are real cinematic. Diggin the brush strokes on Vader's helmet.

Awesome but I do not want to be the one at the end of Vader's blade!

Very impressive indeed.
What media did you use to capture such realism! It looks painterly or digital or both??...

Thank you! It's all digitally hand painted (i.e. no photo textures, photobashing, etc.).

If you do not mind the curiosity, is Vader tinted slightly green, or is that an illusion?

The idea is that there's a slightly green tinge to the lighting on the planet where he is, so his armor is reflecting a lot of that green color.

Ah, I see. Was wondering if it was a subtle reference to some obscure piece of lore - like how the original A New Hope print was on less than excellent film stock in hindsight, rendering Darth Vader marine blue rather than black in only a few years.
