I've always wondered, what made them decide that this helmet design would work?
There's obviously no armor-benefit.
Maybe for acoustics?

Hmm not sure. If I remember right, I think a lot of the Imperial helmet designs (or at least Vader's) was based on samurai helmet shapes, right? Though I guess samurai didn't have laser blasters to contend with either haha.

yeah I think tht they based it on the samurai thing aswell. And let's not forget, vader would have this type of helmet aswell, if someone didn't think it was weird for Vader to move between spaceships without a mask.

I always loved how calm and businesslike he was.
When he's talking to Vader, he says "The shield will be down in moments, you may start your landing" like he's ordering lunch. XD

Amazing drawing ! You captured the feel of the original trilogy just perfectly - he looks really evil ! It must have been a coincidence, but he looks almost exactly like polish prime minister. He's the most hated person in the country so I guess it fits the character

Well he was one of the only imperial officers that didn't get strangled to death by Vader in that movie, so I guess that's pretty badass in its own right.

That , and he's one of the only that doesn't get killed ( at least not in the movies , though there is a deleted scene of the battle in which a Snowspeeder crashes in the cockpit of his AT AT >.> ) AND totally owned the Rebels on Hoth , so yeah , makes him quite badass

Haha that's true. I never thought about that. Sometimes I forget that the Rebels actually lose at Hoth. I'm just too busy basking in childhood nostalgia to pay attention to the plot!

Being a massive Imperial supporter and a generic bad guy lover , i do pay attention to such " details "
I mean , especially in Star Wars , i know the good guys have to win , but they always do it so easily and with so few losses it becomes boring
And well , the battle of Hoth is so so damn epic , you got to remember it , i remember loving the whole scene since i was a child because the Rebels lost
