Everyone has a limit to their patiences, even Superman. In the DC Unlimited Continuity, The Teen Titans weren't the only ones who were unfortunate enough to meet the "heroic" bigot Val Yor. Under normal circumstances, Superman would welcome any hero with an extended hand, however after hearing about the oblique racist comments he made in regards to Starfire, Superman lost any possible respect he had for him, especially with Val directed his comments on all of humanity, believing they are no different from Tamaranians. Superman, being the bigger man, took a page from Starfire's playbook, and just worked with him for the time being, and remembering the value he has for Earth and the people who live there.
