This is a retcon that would make sense to the context of the Teen Titans lore. Part of the DC Unlimited, Cyborg's origin remains intact as seen in the 2003 tie in comic, "Teen Titans Go!" In this continuity, Cyborg was a drag racer who was lashing out due to his parents using him like a guinea pig in their experiments, much like in the Marv Wolfman and George Perez comics. And once he got into an auto accident, his parents used experimental technology, that came from Fourth World. Of course, in this retcon, Cyborg's accident was caused by the New God Metron. As a cosmic observer and scientist, Metron knew that S.T.A.R. Labs had gotten access to Fourth World Technology, last seen after Orion's last visit to Earth (during the Jack Kirby Run). As the Source fed him images of a man combined with this technology would rise up. Metron picked the most suitable specimen for this, in the form of Victor Stone. Because of his intelligence and his body growing in physical perfection, he was the perfect candidate to graft his body in New Gods cybernetics. This of course creates tensions between him and Cyborg. However, Metron points out that had it not been for this, Cyborg would never have become the hero the world needed him to be, nor would he have cared about the relationships he made with The Titans or kids with disabilities. Though at this point, Cyborg sees his point, he is further upgraded by the Fourth World Technology. How it will affect him remains to be seen.
