Description This is just a goofy idea that came to me about a week ago. Most of my ideas come from silly wordplay. I dig the classic version of Archie from the 40's far more than his modern interpretations, so I went with that old school look for him. And the idea of big ol' dangerous Juggernaut wearing a vintage Jughead hat just seemed to funny to pass up. If I had my druthers, I could make this the coolest Archie Comics/Marvel Comics team-up since Archie Meets The Punisher back in the 1990's (I own a copy). But at any rate, this was fun to make.

That was pretty funny although I don't see Juggernaut eating hamburgers.

This is nothing but a hackneed, lame gag.

...and I love it! The style is campy, the dialogue is perfect, and Juggy's stance just makes me wanna piss myself laughing.

Great stuff, truly great.

Thank you! Someone said I made Archie look like Don Knotts, which in an odd way seems strangely appropriate. I think Don Knotts would react in a similar manner!

spleen2 In reply to Jaguaro [2009-06-23 23:05:50 +0000 UTC]

Reg would be Angel because he is in love with himself, Ronnie would be the White Queen even though the hair color is wrong and she would have to come in late to the story. Betty is Jean Grey tired of being ignored by Archie she reaches down into her powers and goes bonkers as Dark Girl Next Door.

SIR! oh THAT is comedy gold right there. This is one of those idea you just need to get on papaer before your brain flushes it away. - Good call on the classic look of Arch' - I think he'd be more recognizable to a lot of people ^_^ (oh btw - I think you're cool too )

Violeta960 [2008-10-20 23:09:20 +0000 UTC]

I'M JUGHEAD BEEATCH!! Good play on words, the little crown looks so ridiculous on him. And classic Archie is always better than "new" Archie, not just the drawings.

You seriously need to keep on truckin', Jay. I'm looking forwards to the new stuff you've got cooking. Thanks for all the great art, and keep on sharing!

Dude, this is awesome...Archie looks fantastic in your style! Hey, they do try to market a new look about every ten years (e.g., the New Archies), so maybe they will go in this direction some day!

By the way, kudos for referencing the 40's style I recognized Archie instantly on the thumbnail!

Oh! That Juggernaut.

Wait! Archie and The Punisher had a crossover comic?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JayFosgitt In reply to dynamicsketch [2008-10-20 20:44:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, in the mid 90's. It was actually pretty well done, except the Punisher was drawn in a serious gritty style (by John Buscema, maybe?) and Archie and everyone else in Riverdale was drawn in the typical Dan DeCarlo style. It worked, but it was a bit too Roger Rabbit in appearance. The Punisher comes to Riverdale because he's seeking out this criminal who happens to look a lot like a scummy Archie. Then hilarity ensures (though no bloodshed to speak of).

JayFosgitt In reply to DocShaner [2008-10-20 20:42:04 +0000 UTC]

Oh, totally! There's so much we could do! Let's brainstorm and see where it takes us!

On a related note, Laura had an idea that I'm considering where Archangel would be Archie (Archieangel) and of course, Juggerhead. Sounded like a hoot to me!
