Description
A piece I drew for Mouseguard creator David Petersen's Harry Potter art collection of Professor Trelawny, Harry and Hermione. I based my designs on whatever descriptions I picked up from the books, rather than the movies. Trelawny was said to have thick glasses and wore a shawl. The books describe the students wearing cloaks, which I took as meaning capes. And Hermione was said to have bushy hair and buck teeth, all of which gave me a lot of fun visuals to play with.Related content

That id a really fun take on the characters. I like the capes much better than the robes they used n the movies. Fantastic stuff as always man!

I can't believe you didn't put Bodie as her prediction.

What a great idea! Sad to say I've already handed this finished piece off to my friend, but that was an inspired suggestion!

Wow, what a fresh take on the characters! I love how you put your own unique spin on literary figures like this Hermione's look of skepticism is spot on!

Trelawney's clothes were so busy I didn't even SEE hermione the first time around! (Which strikes me as pretty accurate, now that I think about it. *laugh*)

I can't remember whether Hermione corrected her teeth before or after she met Professor Trelawny.Β I just that she did it before a ball, but I can't remember which years everything happened.

Hermione took Divination in third year; she dropped the subject in April and never came back. She had her teeth fixed in fourth year, right before the Yule Ball

Hermoine actually looks a lot more interesting here.

I'm actually surprised you haven't drawn Trelawny by now (as far as I know). Her kooky sensibility's perfect for your style. Great work as always.

Thanks! This is almost the first time I've drawn the Harry Potter characters since I first read the first three books back in 1998!

I don't know how you do it, but every time I see you work with another property's characters, you always manage to translate them in your own style so clearly and seamlessly. Bravo man.

Aw, thanks. I only interpret characters that I have a real appreciation for, so hopefully that comes across!

The good professor's style looks a lot more ornate in the book than in the movie. Β I guess the costume department wanted a bit of relief, and likewise Emma Thompson. Β This Trelawny looks like she raided Elton John's old wardrobe. Β The anime hair suits Harry, and I would have loved to see Hermione sport that look. Β Nice work. Β Β
