Description BIG NOTICE GUYS: This only works with 2.49 or earlier. I'm not sure about 2.5, as *some* people have had some success with it, but these are NOT compatible with 2.6+.
Apologies for not saying that in the tutorial, but I'd thought it was somewhat obvious. Blender 2.6 had major recoding that rendered 99% of existing plugins/scripts unusable, including these.

***EXTRA NOTE***
If you don't see a scripts folder, check the main Blender folder, where the full thing was installed. Most computers have multiple user profiles, so it installs in somewhere like Drive C: -> User -> Blender Foundation -> (etc) AS WELL AS the place I listed in the tutorial. The scripts folder is pretty easy to find, so if you don't see it find the other Blender folder.

...9?
LOL I just have an MQO export and these... plus like 2 that Blender/Python starts with.
Unless you're looking at the list IN Blender, then still no. Those all come in Blender automatically~ Heh...

I did everything that was written in your tutorial but when upright to open Blender and do File - Import does not show me "file for PMD MMD" T_T'' What could I do to solve the problem?

JerisEnigma In reply to JadexHibari [2012-06-11 07:27:38 +0000 UTC]

Copy the scripts into *every* script and plugin folder you can find. Be sure to search your computer, because there are usually 2 different places where Blender installs to.

After that, restart your computer and check Blender again.

The scripts are really small, so don't be afraid to copy/paste them *everywhere* you think they might go. I'm still not 100% exactly where they go, so pasting them all over the place usually works wonders.

I've redone everything and now it only works when I try to import a file format. Obj I get the following error "Python script error check console"
what is causing this problem? ò.ò

JerisEnigma In reply to JadexHibari [2012-06-11 23:23:19 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I have no idea what causes it.

I get that exact error pretty much every other time I install Blender and the scripts.
The only way I've found past it is to reinstall one or both of those, or just search and spam the scripts some more. Overkill with them still never reaches even a megabyte, so go crazy. Maybe restart your computer for good measure, as Blender doesn't always shut down all the way when you try to go back and see if it's working.

I know exactly which error you're getting, but I promise the pmd importer DOES work. It's just a finiky lil bitch sometimes. :I

I wouldn't bother with this guy. He steals people's models and redistributes them. Also breaking rules. He broke Nanami's rule of no using her models for sexual reasons or fan service. He's the lowest of MMD scum.

JerisEnigma In reply to StarDream1 [2012-06-10 01:07:10 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, I can't. The scripts aren't compatible with anything beyond 2.5 and since they weren't written by me I can't do anything with them. Thus the tutorial is only guaranteed as far as it can be with 2.49.

JiiJii In reply to ??? [2012-05-01 15:57:39 +0000 UTC]

What version of Blender are you running? This doesn't seem to work on my 2.62 so I wonder if it's because of the version?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to JiiJii [2012-05-02 18:14:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the newer versions (2.5+) do NOT support any of the old plugins/scripts. Total BS for all the guys who have to go tweak the code again. e___e"

I use 2.49b *always*. It was my first upgrade and I've never had an issue with it that couldn't be fixed.

Seriously? That sucks for me. Cause Now I can't make models for MMD >.<

JerisEnigma In reply to KanadeViolet [2012-05-19 00:18:52 +0000 UTC]

Downgrade? Get both?
If you've got the space, having both versions can't hurt.

LOL My current setup is all wonky because I installed the newest version to convert ONE model, then downgraded... So everything says it's 2.5~ until you open it (it didn't clear all the way on uninstall), but the About and actual program are 2.49b. At least it works tho?

Whenever I try to import a PMD, it says "Error: Python Script error, check console." Then on the console, it says: "ImportError: No module named xml.dom.minidom."

JerisEnigma In reply to tuestpwned [2012-04-28 06:08:00 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I'm going to paste what I told a girl just the other day... I get that *same* error every other time I happen to reinstall Blender. No real idea how to fix it unfortunately. I just paste the plugins somewhere else or reinstall Blender and blender2pmd *again*. Even if I swear I did it all the same each time, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. Just make sure you put the scripts in *every* Blender folder you find, just in case. That MIGHT fix it for you.

Ah damn, I should've mentioned how to find the RIGHT Blender folder...
*editing description immediately*
If you don't see a scripts folder, go to your Users version (under Computer C: -> Users -> Blender or whatever)
It has all the same Blender stuff but more. WHY they aren't all in the same place is beyond me but... e__e

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ZeroGravityAsylum In reply to JerisEnigma [2012-04-03 16:46:08 +0000 UTC]

Maybe I just don't have the right Ver of Blender. Eather way ill have it for when I do get it right.

And the reason they are in different places on different computers is because of the make and model of PC that the person(s) are using and that they have different instillation formatting. I have typing that didn't just make my sound like a rude smart-ass. >_>

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to ZeroGravityAsylum [2012-04-03 19:02:11 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, maybe. I've always used 2.49b but it should work with anything before that, too.
It will NOT work with the newer versions at all, because they changed something in the coding...
Like with Windows 7, it's "better" but now 1/2 our older stuff isn't compatible... T__T

Nah, you don't sound like a smart ass~ That makes sense. The thing that bugs me about it tho, is that I only have 1 user on this computer, NO separate profiles and I believe I set it up as "only this user" or something during the last installation, so the multi locations kind of peeved me. e__e;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ZeroGravityAsylum In reply to JerisEnigma [2012-04-04 15:35:22 +0000 UTC]

Now I got that one. I just checked. but then agine, Blender hates me XD

Oh I know what you mean, I try making/installing things with instructions and half the time the locations are different and that becomes a pain.

JerisEnigma In reply to ZeroGravityAsylum [2012-04-07 21:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, sorry to hear that, man... Like I said, it plays nicely with *me* every other time and I KNOW it works. TT___TT
All I can say is the same old wash and dry "reinstall/download/try again"
