Description BIG NOTICE GUYS: This only works with 2.49 or earlier. I'm not sure about 2.5, as *some* people have had some success with it, but these are NOT compatible with 2.6+.
Apologies for not saying that in the tutorial, but I'd thought it was somewhat obvious. Blender 2.6 had major recoding that rendered 99% of existing plugins/scripts unusable, including these.

***EXTRA NOTE***
If you don't see a scripts folder, check the main Blender folder, where the full thing was installed. Most computers have multiple user profiles, so it installs in somewhere like Drive C: -> User -> Blender Foundation -> (etc) AS WELL AS the place I listed in the tutorial. The scripts folder is pretty easy to find, so if you don't see it find the other Blender folder.

No no no, this is all in PMDe AFTER you import it.
This will fix it so it isn't a blank white blob~

Thanks
Well when im import the .x file to PMDEditor shows nothing only the little blue square, i need to have the PMDSize for this problem?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to Totalheartsboy [2012-11-15 01:47:48 +0000 UTC]

You CAN use PMDsize for that, or just change it when you import.
When you first import it, there are 3 options on the little pop up that comes up. The first has a box with 1.0 in it and you can change that to whatever you need it to be (2.5 for 250% or 0.5 for half size). Under that is 10x for 10 times its size and next to that is 1/10 which is a tenth of its size and will probably never be used.
I usually import things around 7.0, but it varies by file.

I don't know why, but for some reason when I try to download Blender 2.49b, it keeps saying that a lot of files are missing, and when I do run it, it opens up as 2.63 instead even though I don't have it located anywhere in my computer. Would you recommend that I try the other versions below 2.49 to see if it could work?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to xTerraxJanex [2012-09-20 03:44:01 +0000 UTC]

I would uninstall and delete any Blender stuff you have, then reinstall 2.49b again. Also make sure the version of python you have is correct.

I have the same small glitch on mine from 2.6; It *says* 2.6 when I open it, but it clearly isn't. For some reason that never changed back, but it doesn't seem to affect anything as long as it's installed fine.

xTerraxJanex In reply to JerisEnigma [2012-09-20 05:05:30 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I did what you told me, and I already added in the scripts. But when I opened Blender, there's no pmd in the import or the export, and most of the scripts were all DLL files while the pmds are only py files. Do I need to convert them or find different pmd files?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to xTerraxJanex [2012-09-20 18:27:44 +0000 UTC]

Nope, just make sure they're in the right places.
Like I keep assuring people, just copy-paste them *everywhere* you think they might need to go. They're very small files, so the extras won't hurt anything.
Usually there's a second Blender folder that people miss and they need to go in *there*. Be sure to check under C:/->Program Files->Blender Foundation->Blender->scripts/plugins/etc (or a very similar place) if that's not where you were looking already.

xTerraxJanex In reply to JerisEnigma [2012-09-21 02:48:58 +0000 UTC]

That's actually the problem. When I downloaded it, there were no folders and yet I don't even know where the extra plugins came from. Should I try and load the files into the Python folder to see if it could work?

JerisEnigma In reply to xTerraxJanex [2012-09-21 04:47:42 +0000 UTC]

That could help maybe, but they are meant to go in Blender itself.
Did you extract/unzip them first?

Recently downloaded Blender2.63 and pasted the extracted AlmightehBlenderScriptzFTW literally everywhere in the Blender folder (in Scripts, Addon, python folders). xD
But it's not working for me. D:

Any clue where I made a mistake?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to Hikari0cean [2012-09-10 00:39:51 +0000 UTC]

Blender 2.6... That's the mistake. :/
The plugins only work in 2.49 or earlier, MAYBE 2.5 but I'm not sure.
I only use 2.49b nowadays since everything was made obsolete and moved around with the newest version.

It isn't downloading still, or it isn't installing properly?
The download is working fine, I went and tried it on 2 other computers.
Maybe try on a library computer or something if you only have one at home. I'm certain it's just a glitch on your end. :$

I've had this problem since I got blender the first time years ago. It won't locate Python and so it won't let me import/export in .pmd format now. Do you have any insight into how I could fix this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to AzureMMD [2012-08-03 21:32:20 +0000 UTC]

Try downloading a different version of python to install. Blender 2.49b needs python 2.6, but there are several versions of that like 2.6.2, 2.6.8, etc. Sometimes one version won't install properly for whatever reason, so just get a different release of that version of python (2.6.x NOT 2.7, etc).

Here's the older releases page: [link]

It does recommend 2.6.8, but I tried using that for my cousin's computer and it refused to install. We ended up using 2.6.6 I believe. Also, if you're using Windows, *definitely* download the MSI version of whichever release you choose. It installs absolutely painlessly~

I now have Python but it still won't let me import/export. It lets me search for the file, click import/export, and then it says "Python script error: check console"

JerisEnigma In reply to AzureMMD [2012-08-04 04:13:31 +0000 UTC]

Make sure you have the pmd scripts in the correct Blender folder. It's 100% fine to have duplicates, so copy-paste them all around if you aren't sure.

Usually, if the option shows up in the menu but doesn't work, then it's in the wrong Blender folder. It's installed in 2 places on your computer, so look for the one with the scripts/plugins folders already in them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to AzureMMD [2012-08-10 23:57:17 +0000 UTC]

That does look right, but it also looks like it's the one under My Documents.
There's usually a second copy of Blender saved over where it installed that will have more Scripts/plugins folders in it. If not, make some there.

Mine is under C:/->Program Files (x86)->Blender Foundation->Blender-> scripts/plugins/etc
I also threw some in the .blender folder that's on that layer, just in case.

AzureMMD In reply to JerisEnigma [2012-08-11 22:12:18 +0000 UTC]

When I downloaded it I downloaded it to My Documents so it would be easier to delete if I had to or if/when I gave up on it for the fifth time. XD

Just right inside Scripts.
If you find another 'scripts' somewhere else, put it in there as well.

Nothing. Go to the Shaded/Textured View to see the colors and such. All of that is still there, it just opens in a different view. (I'm away from home tho, or I'd be more specific on the view )

How can I get it to work on Blender 2.62 (the version I use)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to MUR454k1M1nK [2012-07-13 01:09:44 +0000 UTC]

You can't. It isn't compatible.
Most Blender plugins/scripts are no longer compatible with 2.6, so just downgrade to use them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MUR454k1M1nK In reply to JerisEnigma [2012-07-13 02:55:20 +0000 UTC]

Or you could just make them work with 2.6.....

I already have too many add-ons that only work with my version that I'd probably be using at the same time--I can't downgrade!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to MUR454k1M1nK [2012-07-13 04:57:02 +0000 UTC]

Well I'm sorry about that, but I didn't make the scripts. I have no idea how to edit python script and they simply aren't compatible with 2.6. The Blender team changed some tiny bit of code that ruined it for us. Just download version 2.49 separately, you don't have to actually downgrade downgrade.

Paste the scripts in another script/plugins folder. There are several in 2 separate Blender directories, so if it'f not in the exact right one you'll get that error. I don't know which one it is, so put them in ALL of them. ^__^

Restart your computer, then try again.
If it still doesn't work, you may have to reinstall Blender. It does this to me all the time.

In the Blender folder there should be a scripts folder. If not, make one and put them in that.
Make sure to check if you have a second Blender folder somewhere else, because it usually installs in more than one place. If you do not see a scripts/plugins folder anywhere, you're probably in the wrong Blender folder.
