Description
BIG NOTICE GUYS: This only works with 2.49 or earlier. I'm not sure about 2.5, as *some* people have had some success with it, but these are NOT compatible with 2.6+.Apologies for not saying that in the tutorial, but I'd thought it was somewhat obvious. Blender 2.6 had major recoding that rendered 99% of existing plugins/scripts unusable, including these.
***EXTRA NOTE***
If you don't see a scripts folder, check the main Blender folder, where the full thing was installed. Most computers have multiple user profiles, so it installs in somewhere like Drive C: -> User -> Blender Foundation -> (etc) AS WELL AS the place I listed in the tutorial. The scripts folder is pretty easy to find, so if you don't see it find the other Blender folder.

K K, deeeeep breath~ I went through the same headaches the first couple times I tried this, too. The tutorial is here so you won't have to suffer as much as I did.
If you're looking through Blender itself (on the open program, instead of in its install folder), STOP and close the program, you won't find what you're looking for there.
My scripts folder showed up here:
C:/->Program Files->Blender Foundation->Blender->scripts/plugins/etc
When you installed it, it also made a folder wherever you told it to (which is where your shortcuts will point) but that is generally NOT the right folder. It doesn't hurt to have duplicate scripts in both places just in case, but check through all your Program Files/Program Files (x86)/My Documents/etc. If all else fails, make your computer search for 'Blender' and sift through what comes up.

I've got a similar problem to the other people, except it never lets me even get to the file opening screen. I click on the option in import/export and get this notification which gives me this error .

Well, you're using the right version of Blender, so the only thing I can think of is to try reinstalling everything and restarting you computer.
Afterwards, try it with a different model, just in case.

Try exporting to a .x, .obj, or .3ds first, importing that, then reexporting it as a .pmd. It could be over the vertice limit. If nothing else, the .x should import into PMDe fine.

JerisEnigma In reply to Pixelated--Coffee [2013-06-04 01:33:54 +0000 UTC]
I didn't write it, so no. I don't do Blender scripting, so I wouldn't know how if I wanted too.
Probably won't get updated by the author, either. They'll probably make a new set by scratch *eventually* because the new Blender's coding was totally redone in the last update. Until then, you just gotta use an older version.

Well yeah, you're supposed to download the Python when you first install Blender...
Anyway, if the tutorial itself wasn't helpful enough, try looking through the comments here. I've troubleshooted for so many people that any hiccups should be covered.

2.49b (the only one I can guarantee this with): [link]
My scripts were here: C:/->Program Files (x86)->Blender Foundation->Blender->scripts
Remember that when you install it, it creates 2 Blender folders. One is where you installed it and the other is placed automatically so the computer can run it. The one I typed out is the second one and usually where the scripts folder will be.
[It never hurts to just make one in a similar place though and drop the scripts there too, just in case]

JerisEnigma In reply to Rozelia [2013-01-21 03:55:10 +0000 UTC]
It's cool, I'll do my best
Firstly, check which version of Blender you have. If they're too new, these plugins won't work.
I know they work for 2.49 (that's what I use), I've heard they work in 2.5 and MAYBE 2.3, but 2.6 is NOT compatible.
Secondly, go crazy and paste the plugins aaaall over the place in your Blender folders. Remember, there are TWO separate directories!
They're really small, so spamming them is the best/easiest way to be sure they're in the right place.

JerisEnigma In reply to Rozelia [2013-01-21 18:18:35 +0000 UTC]
Does Blender *itself* run? It needs python version 2.6 to work properly: [link]
Next, do the plugins show up on the menus at all? They should be under File->Import/Export->PMD file for MMD(.pmd)
Even if they're installed correctly and everything is working, it's still pretty finicky. Sometimes you'll need to export to .x or .3ds FIRST, re-import *that* and export it to .pmd NOW. If nothing else, .x will work in PMDe, so you can just save it as .pmd from there.

I don't know what the sig on there means, but this is always where I get mine from.
Get the version that matches your computer. For me it's the 'Windows x86 MSI Installer' and it's just a regular Windows install thing. You download it and double-click to start installing, no unzipping or anything.

JerisEnigma In reply to Rozelia [2013-01-27 02:09:54 +0000 UTC]
Yep, it does that sometimes. The error says it's something about missing titles or something, but I didn't write the script so have nooo idea how to make it more consistent. :/
I assume you're trying to import the model? That tends to work best if you break it up first and import hair, clothes, large accessories, etc separately. Somewhat inconvenient, I know.

JerisEnigma In reply to naga07 [2012-12-25 20:57:24 +0000 UTC]
What do you mean you don't see it 'in' the import file? Is it under File->Import? I didn't write the files themselves, I'm just showing how to install them.
Make sure you're using the correct version of Blender and Python, then install it and restart your computer. It should be added to the list in Blender then.

All I use is 2.49b, so that's he only one I can guarantee "works".
Even that version can be a picky little bitch sometimes.
Try exporting to .x instead and PMDe will still be able to import your model if it's being lame.

Mmm, that's Blender being a picky lil brat again. Does that from time to time.
I don't know how to *fix* that particular issue, and it only happens to me every other time I install, but I *do* know how to get passed it anyway...
First try to export to .x and PMD Editor will be able to import that and make it a .pmd for you.
If it's *still* being a brat, export to .3ds or .obj and import THAT file and export it as .x (or .pmd if it decides it likes the newer version).

JerisEnigma In reply to Totalheartsboy [2012-11-15 01:55:50 +0000 UTC]
That's 100% normal~
You still need to do a bunch of basic edits before it looks nice. They're painless though, I promise!
When I import things, this is the checklist I do:
-Go to the 4th tab/the one with the 3 color boxes
-Make those boxes white, black, dark grey from top to bottom
-Change the numbers to the right of them to 1, 10, 1 (making the first number 0.99 will fix transparency sometimes and changing the last to 0 will remove the black edge line)
If no textures show:
-make sure they're in the same folder as the .x or .pmd file
-shorten names from stuff like bloodelffacetex12.png to face12.png etc.
-change the name in the 4th tab at the bottom to the new shortened name
I also show how to do all that in this tut: [link] and this one: [link] if you need a visual guide. I kinda explain things weird sometimes I think.
