Description My first tutorial in UF. It's a small beginners guide. It shows a way to get started doing fractals very quick. There's no big strange explanations about the features in UF. But it gives you some easy tools for exploring on your own. I've included some small screenshots with red markings around some things so you'll find them easy. Hope it's gonna work. Just note me if you got any questions.

--- UPDATE ---
The rendering tip in the tutorial gives good images. But the main technique used by me is to render very huge. My latest images are rendered without anti-aliasing and 15360 pix on the longest side. Then I shacle them down in Photoshop by 4 to 3840 pix on the longest side. This way you preserve details and the anti-aliasing can sometimes blur.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. It was a big help to me. After doing this tutorial, I was able to get into the tutorial that comes with the program. Previously it used to bore me, and I would never remember anything I learned. But your tutorial gave me a quick understanding of the basics that I can't forget! Thank you.

Thank you!
I had some troubles with it, but that was mainly because I didn't really know what the different buttons I was looking for were, nor what they looked like.

Otherwise it all went good! A lot faster render time that I thought!

I'm unsing a fractal generator called Ultra Fractal. It's not freeware. But you can download a trial version here. [link]

ImSoRad0485 [2009-08-23 14:22:25 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I've never used non-adaptive to render. Always custom depth and threshold, or if I'm in a hurry just Normal. I'll have to try that one out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jimpan1973 In reply to ImSoRad0485 [2009-08-23 14:38:49 +0000 UTC]

Try it on an emboss formula and see the difference.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ImSoRad0485 In reply to Jimpan1973 [2009-08-26 18:28:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah, okay, now I see. That's why I've never used it. I use specific coloring algorithms to create an embossed look on certain parts of my art rather than using an emboss formula on the central fractal structure. It gives me more control, I think. But I'll have to keep this in mind should I ever use that formula. Thank you.
