Description This tutorial covers my basic process from sketch to final product, and how I do textures in graphite. This was a tough tutorial to make - I can see why there isn't a "traditional" section for tutorials. Hope it's somewhat useful.

Holy crap! WONDERFUL tutorial Jen, absolutely terriffic: detailed yet general, an awesome springboard for artists unexperienced with complex techniques but fairly decent with a pencil. Thank you so much for such an amazing tutorial, you are really doing a lot for my artistic research and I thank you for it.

You are a damn good artist, and generous one at that. Thank you!

... Could you do a fur tutorial for graphite? That's my current struggle. I'd really appreciate it!

Errr, this basically WAS a tutorial for fur, but I tried to apply it to any other texture.

I'm talking about a tutorial from stupid-basic to detail, more intricate and proably more annoying to make! XD

Can't complain, anyway. Thanks so much!

Well, see, it's hard for me to make a graphite tutorial that's step-by-step basic, mostly because I no longer have a scanner, which really makes it difficult.

Eeew, that might change things. Still, I can't complain, artists as supportive as you are rare, anyway. Thanks to the brink!

Wonderfully written tut, sweetie! Thank you so much for this!! I love my kneadable eraser...and use it all the time the way you suggested, but I did see many things, including refining my use of the kneadable and other things I hadn't though of...like using the hard edged eraser for fine details....it's so hard to do them with the kneadable! Thank you!!
