Description I changed up the style a bit on the gray version and I quite like it. That may be the new standard

Hi JohnsonArms ! I'm french so excuse me for my english.
I've got a paintball gun, and I would like customised it on District 9 theme or Mass Effect... I watch your pictures, and I find it's really beautiful ! Could you please explain to me how you do,  what material you used, what process....

Thanks you in advance !!!!
Laurent

I like this because I'm a Mass Effect fan. The paint job on the guns are excellent! All they need now is an installation of mass accelerators in them!

What do you use to paint your guns, what brand of paint do you use, and how do you get that "metalic" effect at the tips? I've tried doing that and I use Krylon for plastics, but I can't get them to look that good.

If I wanted to stand out at a convention or something the red would be awesome, but the realist inside me says that the guy with the big red gun is the first to get sniped...

They both look spectacular but I prefer the grey. I like the gold(ish) detail work. Adds excitement to an otherwise dull colored (but infinitely more practical) weapon.

Star Trek theory about red shirts, huh?

Agreed on preferring the grey, but IMHO the red would go really well [link]

I think you're right, but what if you're on a red planet like mars hmmm? Hehe. I like to think the guns have an active camo skin that allows the user to dial in the color that would best suit the environment. Hey, it's the future!!

I think you'll like the olive drab version I'm doing so keep in touch!

Sweet concept! And while I'm virtually broke right now I still wait with great anticipation for every prop you make. Maybe one of these days my greed will trump my frugality...

I'd go for the red too

JohnsonArmsProps In reply to NumptyMcPillock [2011-12-09 16:02:50 +0000 UTC]

Thats the one that's been most popular. but it was also the one Kotaku posted on their front page so it's been seen the most. I do like doing the other colors when the opportunity arises tho!

NumptyMcPillock In reply to JohnsonArmsProps [2011-12-09 20:59:58 +0000 UTC]

Practicality-wise the light grey would be better in an urban warzone as it would blend in with the dust & concrete.

I've got a hankering to one in burgandy, orange, dark blue or bright green. Tigerstripe camo would be a good one, albeit a bitch of a paintjob to do!

"choc chip" desert camo paint job?...Hmmmm?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JohnsonArmsProps In reply to NumptyMcPillock [2011-12-12 18:10:06 +0000 UTC]

Those camo jobs are a real pain, I agree. I wish they didn't look so cool when they were finished. It'd be easier if they looked crap so I could just wash my hands of it all

The orange is also one of the colors I want to do, I'm just thinking of ways to break up that much bright color. I think maybe a few shades of orange (or for a lime green version). Now that I think of it, the burgandy would be cool mixed with a brighter red maybe. All good ideas, let me know if you end up painting one yourself, I'd definitely like to see that!

Now i actually find "field" camo to be an easy option. Saves having to keep masking a lot of it up.

Been thinking along the lines of a "mars" camo myself...orange, red & burgandy.

As for the orange or lime green on it's own, i'd chose a gun that has sections that could be painted (a la plastic/metal furniture/grips, sights etc) so it's also broken up by the gunmetal/black, then REALLY weather it. Scratch, batter & grime it right up. Maybe have some markings? Maybe add the weapons pet name scrawled on it with marker or etched by bayonet?
