hey, mabe you can help me, ive gotten a better understaning of paths.. ive never used the paths window before.. lol no wonder my stuff didnt work so well' everything was a dub path :derp: anyway, what i really wanted to know is, is there a way to merge points on a path. like say i have two sub paths and the ends are close together, do you know how i could make it into one path so i can stroke the whole thing?

Select all the points with the selection tool and copy them (ctrl or command +c) then copy them (ctrl or command V) into the other path. Found that somewhere recently.

One of my favorite things to do with the pen tool is to use the path pen tool to do line art in photoshop.
First you pick the brush size you want to use, then you go to pen tool and make your path.
Then using the 'B' for brush and Enter command, you can make the brush follow the path. Then 'P' for Pen and Enter with clear the old path and let you start a new section.

The funny part is, I discovered this function set on my own while hunter for a better way to do line art with a mouse.

The pen tool's use for line art is rather obvious and something that hudreds have done tuts on.

yeah, I know. But it has lots of uses for doing that. Very handy. I just wish there had been a tutorial I could have readily accessed all those years ago. Would have saved me lots of head aches.

At 3:44 you make a brush stroke. I was wondering what settings you were using to have the start of the brush stroke thin, but then as you continue it thickens out?
Someone told me it was to do with the simulate pen pressure, but I tried the tick box (under brush properties) and it didn't seem to do anything...

You have to go to the Brush Panel, and set your Shape Dynamics. Put them all to the min, and set the size jitter control to Pen Pressure.

Oops, just realised you showed it later in the clip using stroke paths!

Still wouldn't mind knowing what settings you have in shape dynamics to make that happen though!
