Description
Remake of my earlier Masking Guide. Original:Personally I think I managed to make some vast improvments. Mainly things are explained more in more simple terms and more slowly. Audio's a tad off, but syncing audio with vid is just something my computer hates doing.
The Masks Panel only appears in PS CS4 and later versions of Photoshop.
ALSO! If you use this, you must abide by my terms of use!
Stock used in the "Simple Compositon" used to demonstrate adjusment layers:
EDIT
Holy fuckballs. It got a DD! THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!

Just copypasta the embed code. Should work. You need to be a subscriber to use HTML though.

Do you know why the black makes it go away?
I'm very confused about this part. D:

It's just a way of describing opacity using colors. Greyscale makes the most sense since it takes up so little bits to generate the colors. That's all it is.

Okay.
By the way, thank you for the video.
It's too bad I never use Photoshop anyway...

Thank you so much. This helped me understand those masks. I just got CS5 for Christmas and I decided to use it as my main drawing program. Understanding masks is one of the things I could never understand.
Thank you

thanks so much for this! I've never used masks in my entire life, and having been more or less self-taught at photoshop I've always done stuff manually. Now at least I won't have to worry about creating back-up layers in case I don't like my adjustments!

I do not know much about photoshop at all, but that is so helpful!

Thank you soo much for creating that tutorial.

A shame about the low audio because this is a really good tutorial.
One thing I don't think you mentioned about adjustment layers is that they don't have to affect every layer below it. Alt-click between a layer and an adjustment layer and the adjustments will only apply to that one layer. Pretty nifty, I use it all the time.
Congrats with the feature too!
