Description
Remember that dump I told you about? Well, here it is.I tried to keep this sort of organized. The ones with red numbers (1-6) at the top actually relate to an actual episode in some way.
The rest (7-14) don't.

1 - Ep15 - This was going to have more to it. But the second panel kept being a bitch so I gave up XD Carolina, everybody!
2 - Ep16 - Another DNF. Only now it's North's turn!
3 - Ep16 - My heart goes out to B-Team. Their only job was to be the plot device that lead to Tex and Carolina having to competing for the briefcase. That hurts.
4 - Ep16 - Seriously. When did they switch places?
5 - Ep17 - First Carolinaface I ever drew. Still my favorite.
6 - Ep18 - I'm a bluetard through and through, but Grif shouting from that ledge had me in in tears I was laughing so hard.

7 - North still gives me trouble, so this was a practice. Then I liked how North turned out. Then I had to draw York (I mean, obviously) and then I remembered that they both die. Now I can't help but see this as them being ghosts (actual ghosts, not AI XD; ) or something :C
8 - I found a new 'draw abs' tutorial and I wanted to try. Then it just sort of evolved into a drawing of Wash. I don't know what happened. >////>
9 - THE DIREKTORRRR. I just luvs to draw his face.
10 - Best ad-lib wins go go go go go!
11 - Wash's awkwardface. I felt like that needed to be here
12 - Wash. Before and After the 'Epsilon Incident.' He's still quite snarky....but a whole lot meaner XD
There's actually a reason why Wash goes from black hair to gray. I think as Epsilon started to decay, it took a lot of Wash's energy to remain in control and resist unravelling along with the AI. That excess stress on his mind/body put a huge strain on his very biology: he got sick, lost weight, grew paler, his eye color lightened and his hair prematurely grayed. That's also when he got those bags under his eyes that I always draw him with
When Epsilon had been removed, however, his condition didn't change: the damage was done. His very DNA was stressed to the point of degradation; Epsilon literally sucked the life out of him. Now his new appearance serve as as a external tell to Wash's internal condition. He's constantly reminded of how he's been changed, and others are constantly warned that he's not as healthy as claims to be...or something.
All I really wanted was an excuse for Wash to have gray hair without being too old XD; But since I had to make that make sense somehow I came up with this. His hair was all normal colored...then EPSILON comes along and makes it better changes it
13 - Having my artistic genesis in anime, I love the idea of people coughing up blood when they're injured/emotionally broken. Wash fits into both of those categories nicely, and thus this picture happened.

14 - TUCKER. I saw a dude at a coffee shop once and, I shit you not, I looked at his hair and immediate thought "TUCKER WOULD HAVE THAT HAIR." And greekfro Tucker was born.

In the scene, Utah activates a bubbleshield, but it only covers his face...then he says something about everything going dark and he drops to the floor. So I guess Utah was supposed to also get the bubbleshield, but died so they gave it to North? IDEK XD;
I often wonder what Wash's enhancement is. He does get one, doesn't he? But if he did, he's never used it....

4. I noticed that too, but you just made the whole thing so much funnier than I ever could have, haha! I love York’s expression too, like he’s as surprised to find that he’s suddenly driving as we were.
5. Gotta say, I was not expecting her to have long red hair, but I am totally for it now that I know. She looks a little crazed here, which would make sense because didn’t Delta say that she got two AI way back when and that she didn’t function very well or for very long with them? Or was that someone else?

12/13. While I love the idea of Wash having grey hair and not being old, you could have just said he greyed prematurely, haha. My grandmother had a full head of grey hair by the time she was twenty and my siblings and I started getting grey hairs when we were twelve, so you don’t have to be old to have grey hair. XD Also, even if Epsilon was eating away at Wash (which, by the way, totally my new headcannon), I doubt he would have changed eye color because of it, unless it was somehow causing his eyes to fail or mutating his genes somehow. His DNA wouldn’t “stress” or degrade either (if it did he’d quite literally be dead), just his body, which you’re right could have permanent damage if Epsilon put enough strain on it for a long enough period of time.
Uh… sorry about going all technical on you there. I’m a biology student, so sometimes I just can’t help myself…

4. Hahaha, thanks ^^ I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed XD; And that's exactly what I was going for with York; none of us have any idea! XD
5. I wasn't either. Especially not the 'red' part. Longer hair I was ready for (South and CT aldeady had longer hair than I was expecting for either of them) but when Carolina's helmet fell off, it was like BAM. THAT IS RED HAIR. NOT EVEN GINGER RED, THAT IS STRAIGHT UP CRAYOLA CRAYON RED. I was so unprepared XD
And you can't blame her for being a bit enraged here: she went through all that hell trying to get that goddamned briefcase and once she finally does eliminate all possible threats, Tex just saunters up and takes credit for recovering it. I'd be crazymad at that point too XD;
But you might be onto something, there: we might start seeing how naturally unstable Carolina is (we all are, in some way or another,) and how her two AI only amplify this trait of hers out of her control

12/13 Hahaha, I'm (sortof) a bio student too, so it's totally okay! And I like my theories to be as scientifically plausible as necessary ^^
I suppose I should rephrase: Because of the stress, his DNA would just suffer mutation more and would slowly begin to express the new characteristics. Not degradation in structure, maybe, but a degradation in quality? The polymerase just wouldn't have the energy to accurately replicate genes anymore. And his eyes/hair are just the visible signs: he probably does have other internal health complications because of it. He probably would die young....
Haha, really?! I could've just said "he just has prematurely grey hair" and been done with it?! XD Oh well, I still like my 'breaking from the inside out' theory. It's more tragic.

4. Yeah, as soon as the episode started I was still expecting to see Maine in the driver’s seat, but all of a sudden it was York and I just had a moment of “…What?” You pulled his expression off brilliantly, I must say, but then again you’re always brilliant at drawing facial expressions, haha!
5. I was expecting longish hair, but not so long that it would need to be in a ponytail (helmets plus high ponytails hurt in my experience…), but you’re right that bright shock of red was the main thing that threw me off. The way they keep taking their helmets off for no reason drives me up the wall but with Carolina I just couldn’t get over how red her hair was to be too annoyed. XD
Oh, I don’t blame her either because I would have been just as pissed off, haha! All that work, for nothing; poor Carolina.
I’d actually like to know which personalities she got, because depending on which two they were it could explain a lot about her apparently quick fall from grace. If she was feeling stressed out or angry over things in her life than it probably would have made it easier for her AIs to manipulate her natural instability and just break her down if they wanted or needed to for some reason.

12/13. Finding ways to make things seem scientifically plausible is how I spend a lot of my time, sadly, but at least it keeps me amused. XD
Hm, well he could get worn out or stress to the point that the polymerase would not function correctly, but I think that if that were the case he’d be dying rather quickly when he kept making cells that didn’t work quite right. Cancer might also become an issue too if I’m not mistaken. But then again, this is the future so maybe the medical staff would have some way of keeping him alive and mostly functional even if it did come to that point.
Although, I looked it up and it turns out you can get discoloration of the iris even without the whole potentially dying bit (although, wow, the angst potential with that is amazing). If he was getting grey hair than he’d be losing the melanocytes (which create hair and eye pigmentation) in his hair, and in some people once they start losing the melanocytes in their hair they also begin to lose it in their eyes. Getting grey hair prematurely can be caused by an overabundance of stress, so he could very likely have lost I pigmentation because of that too I guess.
Too much stress also weakens the immune system, making him more susceptible to disease of all kinds (except the genetic ones of course), and there are diseases out there that cause discoloration of the eye and pigmentation loss of the iris, so that’s a possibility as well (and just as tragic if you think about the fact that his immune system might be permanently damaged along with having other internal injuries, which would definitely make him coughing up blood a very real possibility).
Of course I like it, it’s a brilliant theory, and with so much potential too! Oh the ways you could go with this… Epsilon screwing with his brain and mental function is angst worthy already, but this just makes it more heart-breaking on so many levels, haha! XD

4. Seriously. I was worried because I knew York would start driving at some point (the clipshow in the trailer showed it) and I hoped that they'd show us when/why.

5. High ponytails are an absolute bitch in helmets, aren't they? They hurt, they itch, and somehow hair always winds up in your face. No matter what.
I like that we get to see their faces, but some of the reasons why they take their helmets off are a bit forced. South, did you really think that showing the director your D:< face was gonna change his mind at all?
I do hope they introduce us to the AI soon! Maine would get like, Alpha's greed or coercion or something.
And then there's Carolina. Did her two AI work TOGETHER to drive her to madness, constantly overrider her decisions because she was outnumbered, or was it their constant bickering due to conflicting traits that caused her to lose it? QUESTIONSSSS

4. My only guess as to why they would switch is because aiming correctly with only one eye requires more time to get used to than driving does so at one point they must have been all like “York! You can’t shoot, you must drive. Quick, switch me seats while we’re in the middle of the highway, now!”
5. Agreed! It’s the same way with buns and any kind of large hair clip. It’s why I eventually just cut my hair short, haha. XD
I like seeing their faces too, but they really could have picked some better timing with a lot of them in my opinion. Like in Carolina’s, why did her helmet just fall off like that? Aren’t they designed to stay on? Because otherwise their free fall scene would have looked little different.

I would love to see the AIs as they were back in the day. There are so many emotions that they could work with, both good and bad, and seeing who gets what would be incredibly interesting to me. Maine getting Alpha’s greed would make my day, no lie.
There’s just so many ways that Carolina could have been driven to madness! You're right, if she got two bad emotions then they could have worked together, but if she got a good and a bad one or simply conflicting personalities (both of which I could see the Director doing just because he’d want to see what happens, like how he gave North one but not South to see if it would do anything) then just the two arguing could have made her lose her mind. Your brain amazes me, truly, but argh! Now I want to know for sure which one it is!
12/13. I’ve got a lot to learn too and your logic was pretty sound once you fleshed it out to me, don’t worry! Going straight for the most angst-worthy theory right off the bat is definitely something I can appreciate and jump on board with! XD
That’s a very good point! And I never really thought of it like that, but that’s pretty much my goal too when I think about things like this. Which is probably why I spend so much time trying to find the best way or ways to explain what happened in a logical manner even if I could just be like, “Eh, I don’t have to explain it, it’s magic.” Not that there’s anything wrong with doing that by any means, it’s just that I automatically try to come up with ways things like that make sense biologically even if I do come across things that are somewhat vague like that. XD
Like it? I love it! This is a fascinating topic and I’m so glad you thought of it!
Haha, me? Well, I would probably go with a mixture of all of them and say that between stress causing him to undergo hair and eye discoloration based solely because he’s that way genetically (that way he could get them even in AUs, haha) and having him under so much mental trauma, at first his body becomes susceptible to disease due to a weakened immune system before it eventually begins to collapse from the strain until they finally get Epsilon out of him.
He’d be in the hospital for a long time while his body tried to heal itself afterwards, but some of his systems would inevitably be so messed up that they could only get so much better. His endocrine system could be one of those, or just one that doesn’t work right for a long time, which could then affect how well he recreates DNA and cells of all kinds which in turn could potentially cause some mutations to start popping up more than usual. Either way, I’d imagine that doctors would have to fight to keep him alive until he could make enough healthy cells that he could start healing and he’d probably rather disease prone for a while afterwards, possibly for the rest of his life if there was enough damage done to certain parts of his brain.

I think Epsilon is largely responsible for it. As Epsilon began to unravel, it took a lot of energy just for Wash to resist and remain in control. This added stress was too much for Wash's body to handle, so he became sick, lost weight, grew paler, his hair prematurely grayed and his eye color lightened.
But even once Epsilon was removed, the damage was done. Too much energy had been taken from him. His hair/eyes/skin never reverted back. Now they serve as a physical reminder to him that he is a different person than who he was before, and it's a warning to others that he's not as healthy/stable as he claims to be. They're the external symptoms reflecting Wash's internal condition. Or something.
I dunno. I just needed an excuse for him to have grey hair and not be old XD;
