Description Michelle is an old friend and ex lover, whom I've been trying to paint for sometime, but we've had jealous new boyfriend issues till lately, which have luckly now been solved. (she dumped him)
I've been really enjoying the looser mark of late (which stupidly enough take me longer thne the smooth finish) but still, I've done what I set out to do with this painting. I'm pleased with it.

This is lovely. I can feel the unusual bond you have with your model/friend. The woman's posture in this painting is tense to me, and you have captured it well. I like the form, but for me the brilliance in this art is the flesh. I can feel the model through the colour and tone of her flesh. I had to look at your other female nudes (semi) for comparison with this one. Each artwork seems to indicate a different feeling quality to the woman's flesh. This is as it should be, but most artists can't do this. In fact they never get it right. I believe that even the same woman can radiate a different tone and colouring to her flesh from one day to the next, in the same environment. It's actually not as subtle as most would think. You just need to be able to really look at her flesh and be with the mood in the room. It is only visible if you can stay with that. Colours are not static, they have movement. You always have to catch the movement of colour when you are working with flesh. I have not studied art in any theoretical way, I just watch the world and people. I'd love to find the artwork that does justice to the nude. I feel that you have done well with the feeling of flesh here. For me however there is an excitement in this work that comes from the artist, and not from the model in front of you. I feel the desire of the artist in this picture. Anyhow my reflections are always unusual, perhaps they will not be of use to you. In truth I think the work is great.
