Description
Oil on Linen, 120cmX 90cm.Portrait of Karen.
Photo updated, still not wild about it, but will have to live with it I guess.
As the title suggests this image was originally going to be the matching piece for Blue Velvet [link]
However since the blue one sold within a week it kinda got postponed till now.
I STRONGLY recomend working on Linen, first time for me, really very good.
This painting has been made under very difficult conditions, been dragged away from it so very many times..
Finished at last! woot!

Beautiful Painting. I actually work on cotton fabric canvas but i definitely want to test linen in the future.
What is so different? I mean cotton fabrics can have a fine structure too

Wellll..........to be quite honest, I've never actaully really experimented with surface. I jsut know this sutff is vastly more better then the last stuff.
I really should push it a bit further and find out what is out there on offer

Stunning! Beautiful colours, and I love her toes sticking out from beneath the fabric!
I love linen too, though I do find it a little bit of a pain for sagging and going slack in places.
Beautiful work

thanks, I wanna get a better photo hoping the sun comes out.
Ahh so its not just me that happens tooo... I've been squirting the back of it quite a bit on and off during the process to keep it tight.

Definitely not just you It's a very common problem, which is such a shame as linen is so wonderful to work with. Someone told me once to make sure you don't stretch it to tightly and let the primer tighten it, that way there will be less chance of it being overstretched. But I've never managed to master it, some of mine are like sails blowing in the wind!

hmm interesting idea...I get someone else to stretch my supports since I can't be bothered/am not very good at it.
I found the light squrit of water on the back tightened it up nicely however

Would you say linen is better than wood?
