Oil on Canvas, 120cm X 90cm.First painting for the year.
Hooray.
It's a portrait of Marcy.
Been working on this forever. Maybe 150 hours..maybe more.
Here's some helpful WIP shots to give you all a sense of scale, and hopefully a sense that I really did have to paint the thing, starting with a white canvas...it was hard.

Beautiful painting and model. You know what struck me the most, how shiny her nails are! I know that's probably weird but the color and shine really stood out for me. The details in this portrait are truly amazing. The skin tones are beautiful especially against the couch and pillow colors.

Your recent blog post made me curious as to who you were so I checked out your gallery. I remember liking your stuff a lot in the past and this one in particular...I thought I had favorited and commented then. Guess I didn't so here we are. I can give mountains of advice, where do you want to start?
Keep in mind I've only been painting for 5 years now so at the age of 26 I sucked completly also.
The overall best hint is just work really really hard and remember there is no such thing as talent, work for it, and you'll get it
