Description The King of the Monsters in his epic glorious moment of BA awesomeness in Godzilla vs. Gigan, returning to battle after almost being down and out. I have LOVED this since I was little, and I always will. This will be available as a print for G-Fest 20.

My best guess is Godzilla is saying I still got some fight left in me!

If there's one thing that makes the big G stronger, it's getting brutally murdered by Gigan. No, seriously. Gigan is a blood thirsty cutthroat. Why do I think he is? He is a violent Godzilla opponent. He is fast and relentless. And he is so strong that one slice from one of his hook hands will be like getting cut by 5 hatchets, 2 butcher knives, and 23 axes, 5 times bigger, going at mach 3. I'm not making that up! Why else would he almost kill Godzilla by just a few slashes of his hooks? Anyways, you did a good job! Keep it up!

On the whole, this movie was pretty lame compared to other Godzilla films. Β Still, it was enjoyable. Β As an aside, I like monsters and weapons that can actually make Godzilla bleed. Β It makes the threat to him all the more serious.Β

It's mostly a shame that it didn't come out in a better time. Β The Japanese economy in general was in the toilet at this time and a lot of the movies show it, especially those that lean on the stock footage so much like this one and Megalon. Β It's still my favorite of the series for a lot of fun reasons, but it would have been nice to see what it would have been like with a fuller budget.

We still have yet to see a big budget version of Megalon. Β "Godzilla and the lost Continent," would have brought him back, but the film was scrapped. Β Sad considering the script was written by the man who did "Ghost in the Shell."Β

Great job!!!!!

This was a big moment in Godzila history because for the first time we see the big G get the living crap kicked out of him, sure it topped off when Mechagodzilla turned Godzilla into a blood sprinkaler. But this moment we see the Godzilla pull out everything he can muster to defeat his foes.

Thanks, this was always one of the great moments for me in any G movie as well. "Gigan" may have been a flawed movie, but it did some things very right, and the ending was one of them.

Yeah it was kind of campy but it was a good kind of campy, of all the cheesy G films that came out at that time Godzilla vs Gigan is probuelly the best.

And yeah I love the ending of the movie, it was like a classic western movie were the heroes road off into the sunset.

Because that's pretty much all the Mushroom Kingdom is good for, being overrun by monsters and hiding princesses

Gotta admit, when it comes to Showa-era punishment-soaking I find it hard to top Big G's experience as a missile-pincushion at the space-titanium mitts of Mechagodzilla, but the licking Gigan dished out is certainly in that ballpark. I mean, counting the stock-footage rehash in G vs. Megalon, how many times did our hero's shoulder get buzzsawed open? 'Course, Anguirus might've had it even worse regarding facial trauma in both films. Gotta love the 70's.

Anyhow, the Mushroom Kingdom Nebulan-contracted architecture forms a hilarious background contrast here, and neat attention to detail (e.g. bloodsmear) on the relevant bits of Godzilla's rugged hide.

A finer, more scholarly kaiju review of my pic I could not have asked for, thank you I also love how they portray his punishment here, makes it all the more satisfying when we rises up again. Wish they'd done more of that in the old days.

Heck, I wish we'd seen a bit more of that in the Heisei & Millennium series. Instead, moderate to intense sumo-grapples & deathray-exchanges were the order of most (Biollante & Destroyer being notable exceptions). Newer fans gush over the suit detail of that era, but all that extra bric-a-brac sure seemed to limit the potential choreography.

No prob I just cant understand why people call this one bad? There are G films that are far worse than this *cough* Godzilla's Revenge *cough* Final Wars.

I watched that movie over and over again as a kid myself, and even though I'm aware of the few stock footage scenes, I still enjoy the rest of the film, Godzilla & Anguirus vs Ghidorah & Gigan is one of the greatest tag team battles of all time

Great pic

Thank you, sir. It's one of the most cherished movies in my childhood, that's for sure. I get more pure pleasure watching the final battle royale in Gigan than in most big budget hollywood films combined.

LOL!!!!!! I totally agree. I have that feeling as well. If I had a choice between watching Avengers or watching Godzilla vs. Gigan, I'd always choose Godzilla vs. Gigan (or any Godzilla film that's NOT Godzilla vs. Mothra 92 I hate that film). This scene who drew is also one of my favorite moments of both the Showa era and Godzilla films in general. Nice work.

Thanks, bloodied and beaten Goji will always be one of the big iconic images of my childhood, glad to give that movie the lovin' it deserves (and while I hate no Godzilla movie, I have to agree on Mothra 92, not in the top tier of favorites here either )

Colors look great. Detail is pretty awesome too. That scene always confused me when I was a kid though. He's not Gamera and does not feed of all forms of energy I just never understood how knocking over the statue made him strong again.

Yeah, basically a second wind was what I always figured. But oh how I love his triumphant return and whooping Gigan for the final round. If I had to pick his most epic moment of rising from near defeat, that would be it.
