Given that today (well, yesterday technically speaking given time zones) the first Japanese G Film released in Japan in 12 years, it's time for kaiju addicts to celebrate. This movie has already divided the fanbase like crazy based on the spoilers and plot synopsis, but honestly I'm just thrilled to know my favorite bad boy is BACK! Here's to many more years of fantastic new entries into the Godzilla series.(For those of you who aren't spoiler hounds and are confused by the beam, that is the only spoiler this picture depicts being that at one point in the movie the big guy's oral beam is VERY focused and laser beam like, but I promise I won't be posting any further spoilers on my art any time soon).

Knowing Anno was going to be involved immediately made me know this movie was going to split fans. I'm not a big Evangelion fan, but I have always admired his artistic direction and was hoping it would lend itself to giving the Big G a shot in the arm. A lot of the stuff coming out about the movie is as nuts as I figured it would be, but we'll see how it plays out for us the viewers, because on its own yeah some of this stuff is about as batcrap insane and out of place as many feared it would be

I really like Evangelion but I also like the things I like to stay pretty much the same. Hey, if he wanted to have Godzilla fight one of the Evas I'd be all for it!

Heh, right on. But yes, I think there's a line to going a bit overboard, but based on what I've seen so far I don't think they've necessarily gone completely over the bend just yet. The day Godzilla puts on a Sailor Moon suit and fights Ghidorah in a Sentai costume though I'll.....actually, strike that, I'd watch the crap out of that.....

Yup, apparently for at least one scene of this movie the beam is a laser pointer XD. There's pics online that confirm this, which is just one of the many insane but amazing things this movie does with the character.

Well, if it make you feel better the beam has different form throughout the movie, including it seems the more standard, full bodied one. But if THIS beam bothers you, you're gonna absolutely hate some of the other stuff he does
