In case you're wondering, that sad song that plays when he fires his atomic breath is called "Who will know (tragedy)" and the lyrics to it are actually from Godzilla's perspective.

Yup, I was fortunate enough to receive the soundtrack for the movie in the mail from a friend of mine in Tokyo before I saw the film, listen to it pretty regularly before I ever even got to see it in the theater. Β Magnificent soundtrack worthy of the long history of the Big G.

I love how Godzilla's jaw splits (like a snake) when his firing his Atomic Breath. In fact,Shin Godzilla is actually Β Β the first truly "new" Japanese Godzilla: while the series rebooted in the Heisei series and several times in the Millennium series, it always held the original 1954 as shared canon, while the 2016 film ignores that film and creates a whole new backstory and origin for Godzilla.

It was definitely a milestone in that regard, and I rather appreciated them starting fresh. Β It may be one of the most controversial G-Films ever, but I'm glad they made some of the choices they did in the long run. Β I have a feeling though that Shin will be the start of another "Millennium" type era where each film is independent of each other, but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

Well, it is confirmed that the upcoming "Godzilla: Monster Planet",this year, is yet another reboot,that ignores 'Shin Godzilla'. These two group of movies are known as the 'Post-Millennium'.

after drawing Heisei and Showa Gojis for so many years I'll tell you that THE hardest thing to do on this character design is make sure the eyes are tiny....it is SO difficult to not make the eyes bigger XD
