How does one select more than one area? The program I use is Krita.

Generally, you can hold down shift to select more than one area. Not sure about that particular program, but it seems pretty universal.

Sadly SAI does not have those options. You have to use Photoshop.

I figured this out on Paint Tool SAI.
1) Copy and paste your first layer (I'll explain later)
2) Pick the Square-selection tool (Or whatever it's called) And select the spot(s) you want to be glitched.
3) Do CTRL and M on your keyboard (At the same time) And drag it around by moving your cursor
4) Now paste your layer again, and lower the opacity a bit.Β
WARNING: Put the pasted layer UNDER the first one, or otherwise it's ruined.
