My first tutorial, created on a whim because ~toxic-paradise asked me how I made the blinky eye. A three-hour whim XD I need to get a life.Careful, it's huge.
Anyway, first tutorial, if something's confusing please ask.
Tutorial is about the GIMP; I don't think it'd work with other programs, sorry. It might, you never know. I certainly don't.

EDIT: Okay, so the main question I'm running into is about the transparencies. Basically, the way the animation works in GIMP is that it stacks the layers on top of one another. It doesn't swap one out for another. So if you have transparencies, you're going to see the lower layers behind them.
Another thing: When you hit "Optomize" (Why, no, I can't spell, how did you guess?) what happens is that GIMP takes your GIF and turns everything that's repeated into transparencies. So say you have a blue background with a little stick figure dancing on it. You would probably put the blue background on every frame. GIMP would then replace the background with transparencies eveywhere that it didn't change.
That doesn't make sense. Um... it makes your filesize a lot smaller, and it therefore good.

this sounds easy enough, I'm recently doing a picture and i was going to make it just look like the petals and roses were floating in the wind, but then i was like "LETS MAKE THIS A PROJECT" and thus I'm going to try and make this a GIF xD I hope it works, but i guess since it's my first try i shouldn't feel bad if it turns of ugly >_<

Okay, this is the first tut I've seen that says this. Does this mean that to make an animation that doesn't show all the layers, I have to remove my alpha channel? I always have this problem, I'm going through my animation, and I see all the layers.

I got it to work, but it doesn't play like an animation, but like laying down transparencies over one another.
All of the frames show up layered on top of each other instead of one after another.
What did I do wrong?

Uhm, I don't know if my computer is just evil or if I downloaded the wrong thing, but none of this is on mine. I don't have a thing called 'dialogue' or anything after step 5.
