aaah i've been waiting for dizzzz /slapped
err one more question--
about the shading. did you do it in a different layer, or in the same one as the layer you want to shade? (ex : shade skin in the skin layer, not in a new layer)
thank you very much!

Waaaahhee i actually do all the steps on my pictures to but ive never thought about putting Gaussian Blur's Blending mode into Soft light... gives it a much different look then just lower the opacity while it just on normal...

THIS IS HANDY <333

Wait, wait! Merge visible duplicate layers? So I duplicate my layers and then merge them AND then blur? Or what? -is stupid-

But other than that, awesome tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to make this for all of us! <3

You know how you make the background "see through"?
Does that only work in Photoshop CS3, CS4, etc? or does it also work in elements?
Thank you for the tutorial <3

Aibiki In reply to ??? [2010-11-25 03:47:14 +0000 UTC]

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what is the reason for using the Gaussian blur near the end of the tutorial? I've seen it in so many tutorials, but could never figure out why it was used.

/is still a photoshop tard

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elzette In reply to Aibiki [2010-11-25 05:18:20 +0000 UTC]

I'm not the tutorial maker but I thought I'd just help to answer. Gaussian blur basically diffuses the picture, making it less sharp and more dreamy looking. It's just an aesthetic thing. Some people prefer to smart sharpen their pictures, while others prefer the dreamy effect that Gaussian blur adds to the picture.

Aibiki In reply to Elzette [2010-11-25 06:46:57 +0000 UTC]

I see. :3

When I looked again, because of the soft light, it also brightens up the picture a bit. Intriguing.
