This little tutorial illustrates the basic steps and techniques used when digitally painting with Photoshop.This is not an in-depth tutorial on how to paint 'something-something' like a pro (a pro I am not
), just some concepts I use regularly to make decent paintings in 3-6 hours. Some of the biggest problems I had while starting to paint is answered here and if you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Tools:
Photoshop (any version) - mine is CS2, but I still recommend Photoshop 7.
Tablet (any brand) - inutos 2 (or 3)

But you know... that "detail" step is a little... fast foward...
You say "Random scribbles makes good details"... ok... I look at the previous picture of the dragons head... I look back at the detailed picture... back and forth...

I just scribbled really - didn't use a special brush or anything - just dabbed different colors so the head gets detailed.
About 2 hours between that step and the next one.

Ok, so we're back at the "scribble the whole day again and again and again" plan.
That really seems like the only way to get skill.
There seems no way around it.

Yeah, but if your hands fall off, they will just say "Use your mouth!" and if your lower jaw falls off they'll just say "Plug the brush between your eyelashes!" and if you have no eyes left they'll just say "What do you want with painting, if you have no eyes anyway!".

I have some books, but they don't help as much as online tutorials - plus things are free online!
All you really need is a little guide and lots of practice.
