Description
If it wasn't apparent by my previous deviations, I tend to get wordy on my images's descriptions, mostly because I like to describe the thought process that goes into each of these. Thing is, when an image serves as an intro to a series, like Tai, you sometimes HAVE to make a big text to properly introduce the point of the series. Nice and all, but in the long run, it kinda looks bad on the eye when the following pieces after that have less text on them, since you have less stuff to explain afterwards.

Then again, deviations are NOT mini-essays, so less reading and more art-ing is always good, I guess. XD

With Matt's piece, there starts a small glaring inconsistency amidst the spritework. That of image proportions. I know Gabumon is not nearly as big when next to Matt, but when the pixel ratio of the Bandai sprites is bigger than the Nintendo-styled ones, one must work with what they have got. At the very least, it does not look TOO jarring. x)

Ah, Matt. Everyone's favourite angst deluxe and Tai's obvious bro crush. I originally was not that much of a fan of him, mostly because he was a true bono dicko. I rarely like dickish characters but later down the line, he started getting a more anti-hero coat under all that angst and it warmed me up a lot more into him. Of course, his pessimism still kept me on the ropes, but I guess you can't win it all with him. Oh, except his lil' bro, of course. x3

If it is not obvious yet, yes, there are similarities on Matt's design with Tai's. I am always a sucker for symbolism and duality, and I went with that for Matt and Tai (you can't find a better example of conflicting duality than those two, I will give ya that XD). The obvious antithesis to Tai, Squirtle's line is an amazing fit for Matt and Gabumon. One thing I did not mention in the previous one is how much fun I had with the digimon afterimages behind the Pokemon. I really loved the idea that, in a world were Tai and co. met Pokemon instead of Digimon, the Pokemon they would choose could maybe still have the same character traits that their Digimon would have, as if their spirits would linger on in the Pokemon themselves. After all, a digimon's partner is a perfect fit to their human. Who's to say the same is not true for Pokemon as well?

Wooo, boy, enough with this moody and conflicted friendship stuff. Let's talk more lovingly now, shall we? Go hug your moms, you are gonna need it for the next one.
