To reiterate: I was at Wolfpark a few days ago taking pictures of the main pack of wolves. We had broke for lunch and to warm up our numb fingers and toes. Monty Sloan the park's staff photographer had gone off to download his images with a firewire cable, must get one, and returned within a half hour to pick back up with the shoot.

During this small bit of time it got colder. Not that it stopped the wolves from being any less playful. They continued to entertain and challenge us throughout the rest of the day.

Some of the highlights: Monty putting pepperoni on the ends of higher branches so they had to jump to reach them. Wotan finding one of a number of dead bullfrogs Dharma, the pack's current frog killer, had dispatched. Dharma advancing farther out into the lake than the others to get pieces of pepperoni. Dharma and Wotan colliding in mid-air. Wolfgang doing his best to behave even though there were all these wonderfully interesting new things wandering around in his enclosure. Finally, as they day wore down, snow and it's effect on all of the pack.

From front to back. Dharma; whose mother is an arctic wolf, Ruedi; who has pale blue eyes with a star shaped iris and is a season older than Wotan and Wolfgang, and Wotan just peeking out by a nose.
