So. I have a confession to make this afternoon. I had a favorite subject while photographing the wolves this past weekend. Say hello to Dharma. She and three of her siblings were brought to Wolf Park to be socialized as pups last year. The other pups were moved elsewhere after socialization, though Dharma remained to join the main pack.

I couldn't help but focus on her. It is not even her coloring, which is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Ruedi has wonderful eyes, Wotan a great personality, Wolfgang... well, he is the alpha male after all, but when all was said and done little Dharma stole the show.

She reminds me so much of the first wolf I ever adopted at the Park, Maya. In fact, I caught Pat one of the park's senior members calling her by Maya's name later in the afternoon when talking about her. Dharma's mother was an arctic wolf, while her father was the more commonly seen grey, and she has some great instincts.

Pat believes it's due to her mother's heritage, but only time spent with her, and studying her behavior will give them any real understanding. That is something Wolfpark is known world-wide for, their experience and knowledge in wolf behavior.

*Addendum: This lovely lady gave birth to a litter of six wolf pups on April the sixth. Appropriate, Dharma. I can't wait to meet them.
