Wasn't exactly satistfied with my first upload so I redo another version. An overview of all the F-76 Thunderbolt TAC fighter models, based on the designs from 1997 movies
--F-76A Twin-seater Fighter-Bomber--
The Thunderbolt is the main space fighter of the Federation's Fleet. It handles enemy fighters easily, and though it is not as maneuverable as the new interceptors, pilots love it for one reason alone: Survivability. Most of the fighters in the TAC doctrine have a tough armored shell made from Ceramic Composite Reactive Armor which is used on ship armor plates. The fighter can take a serious beating and still manage to make it back to friendly territory. Some have looked into the history books, and began calling it the "A-10 Warthog" of the Post Bug War era. However, the name only works with the pilots, as the current model of the TAC is the "Thunderbolt V".
These fighters were also featured quite heavily in FedNet propaganda during both the First and Second Bug Wars, possibly to encourage excitement and support for the wars.
--F-76J Single-seater Interceptor--
During the modernization of the F-76 Thunderbolt V space fighters, the Terran Command demanded the Nashan design team to modify the aircraft for point-defense interceptor role. As a make-shift solution, the engineers proposed a single seat variant. The reduction to a single crew member significantly improved the maneuverability and acceleration characteristics of the aircraft. Along with other modifications and improvements such as a new short-ranged LADAR, thermal sensors and a ballistic computer system, this new F-76 design would entered production as the F-76J Thunderbolt.
Many F-76J continued to be produced in fairly large numbers since the First Bugs War, both for domestic use and export. Although no longer the mainstay Federation Fleet fighter, the F-76J is still in service with the Federal Army, the Systems Alliance military and even several Terminus factions, a testimony to the Nashan's own design bureau legacy with the Thunderbolt line.
--EF-76 Thunderbolt Recon Type--
An enlarged derivative of the the F-76 Thunderbolt fighter airframe for reconnaissance and electronic warfare, the EF-76 is the Federation's fleet mainstay spotter craft and had been used for various missions ranging from jamming enemy's early warning systems to gathering military intelligence on enemy planetary defenses. It is also capable of carrying and firing the M-66 Wave Jammer missiles for disrupting psionic wave controls of the Arachnid Hive leadership caste throughout the Bugs Wars.
As of early 2670s GS, the EF-76 is still in service with the Federation Fleet, although they are slated to be replaced by the larger and more modern EF-81 Trishula derived from the F-81 Trident fighter-bomber airframe.
--FA-76 Super Thunderbolt Strike Fighter--
Further evolution of the basic F-76 airframe, featuring short-ranged FTL mass-effect drive and kinetic barrier shielding that greatly improved overall combat performance, and an advanced AISA (Active Infrared Scanned Array) suite. Compared with the F-76J, the FA-76 was much faster, capable of short-ranged FTL jumps and had a full suite of adaptability
--F-82 Folgore overview--
A further improved variant of the legendary Terran's F-76 Thunderbolt space fighter. The F-82 Folgore is a low cost, low maintenance strike-fighter designed by Nashan Stellar Dynamics for export. It possessed excellent air combat and ground attack capabilities thanks to the newly imported state-of-the art technology. From an integrated FTL drive, automated flight control and capability to adopt eezo-based weapons. Combined with the remarkable robustness of the legendary Thunderbolt airframe, this made the Folgore an attractive low-cost alternative for many small nations with a tight military budget. However, the lack of a proper kinetic barrier system meant the craft was still less likely to survive a hit from a high-powered mass accelerator compared to more advanced Terran fighter designs.
The Folgore had been exported to numerous interstellar nations across the Milky Way galaxy, seeing services with Systems Alliance Navy, Hanar's Illuminated Fleet, the Vol Protectorate Navy and various other Terminus warlord factions. Since its introduction in 2670GS, the F-82 had seen active combat service in the Alliance's Navy, being used for anti-pirate patrols and also reported to have been used for bombing Batarian's outposts during the early stages of the Alliance-Batarian border conflict.
