When my daughter first started watching the show, those were my exact same words to her.
Of course this situation has resulted in a mountain of fan porn! This is tame by comparison.

Except that the show is based on an 80's comic book and therein--sans when Raven becomes evil or when Starfire uses lip contact to obtain language--the girls are straight. The fact that Koriand'r [Starfire] loves Dick Grayson [Nightwing in the comics, but Robin in the show] and that Raven has now grown fond of a certain changeling (they were beating around the bush before an after Tara Markov killed herself, but canon as of 2003, before the show aired) would be proof of that.
