Commission piece, to be featured as a double page spread in the Beauty and the Beast artbook produced exclusively for the Big Wow comic convention in San Jose. Rima was a South American jungle queen, so clearly this is the little known South American gorilla - technically a giant tail-less monkey...

Thanks man! It was inked using my trusty Pentel Brushpen - a brush that takes cartridges, and my all-time favourite art tool.

Thank you! I love inking organic stuff... I find the freer you are, the less you plan, the more REAL it tends to look. Nature is spontaneous!

I agree completely, there's something to being spontaneous, when inking, that many times (in my experience, at least) kind of gets lost when trying to control the process very much. That said, I find it that is is easier said than done.

Thank you Damian! Very much appreciated. Frazetta has influenced my inking for a long time - the bold blacks, the super-fine line-work. Jeff Jones too, along with Barry Smith, Bernie Wrightson, Kaluta, Clemente Coll, Alex Raymond, and too many more to mention.
This was conceived as a black and white piece so it would be interesting indeed to see it coloured - I would favour a very subtle job!
