So Is path to stroke a bad option? A part of me is saying yes and another part says no but I'm just a beginner who wants to be a pro at vectoring.
But I realize when I do use stroke to path it can to the smallest detail heavily affect the stroke width consistency which is something that always bothers me.

Using stroked paths is only acceptable if you don't have serious OCD like me... or if you don't need to be able to tweak the path shape later.

yeah I try to not to use it for when I making strokes for the ponies outline but sometimes I do for the ponies legs even though there is a way of creating those sharp points on the end of a ponies legs without converting the stroke to path.
one of my worries in vectoring is when I don't maintain stroke width consistency and pro points it out. I know stroke to path can produce those sharp points when needed but can screw up the stroke width consistency.

On the sidebar on this page download the SVG file. Open it with Inkscape and you're set

Explain what exactly you are doing, and where you are getting confused.

Have you downloaded the SVG file? It is the first link in the description.
Open the file and copy one of the given shapes.
If you can't find the shapes when you open it, they're in the middle of the screen. Just keep zooming in.

That's the idea. Adjust it to the width you want (in pixels, not points) , and make sure it is filled in with a color, and not outlined.

That's okay, when I was new I wouldn't have understood it either. And you don't have to credit me if you don't feel like you have to

How was it wasted? You learned something, so my teaching worked and therefore my time wasn't wasted. Also I have nothing better to do right now and I'd always be glad to help anyone learn.

I see. In the path effects dialog just keep turning up the width setting until you can see it and make it a fill color, not a stroke color.
