Description Yep, so, after the Mechonoids, I'm going to be tackling the Quarks.

As per my original Instruments of War redesign, I'm using the head of the original prop/suits as the basis for the Quark unit itself, a self-contained slave AI that can plug into various armatures as needed.

With the first version, due to the limitations of my software and processors, I copped out on the design a bit and didn't try to replicate the 'ball of tubes' aesthetic of the original heads. However, this time I'm going to embrace it, as you can see from the above.

Quarks, like Doctor Who, belong to the BBC. Though they don't advertise that fact.

...after the Mechonoids, I'm going to be tackling the Quarks...Are WOTAN and the War Machines on the list?

They weren't, but maybe one day I'll give them a go. Never say never, as they say.

The closer modern technology comes to being able to actually build something like them, the moreΒ interesting inspirational material a hypothetical War Machine redesign receives. I can totally picture something like the underslung rotating camera pod of a reaper drone or talon as working as a head.

I always wondered if the cast and crew felt wary around those Quark costumes. You'd more than poke an eye out if you tripped and fell at or onto those heads!

I thought "quarks" were tiny little subatomic particles?
Maybe I've been watching too much discovery channel :b

Yeah, I wonder why they called them that...

Am I the only person who thinks that the Toclafane oddly resemble a Quark head?

Not at all - I keep thinking that and trying to make my Quark look distinct. That's one of the reasons I kept the odd sized/odd spaced tubes and the differing length spikes!

make a movellan next! or a dalek-cyberman hybrid!

I may make the Movellans at some point, but I have no plans to do so at the moment. I probably won't do a Dalek-Cyberman hybrid though - I just don't like the concept.

I think the tubes should be darker though, and maybe a bit more even across the surface, or maybe have the tubes all be equal size. I definitely think they should be darker though.

I'm not going to make them equal size. I did try that originally but this looks better and I rather like the hint of something...fungal that it gives it. It's quite unlike anything else I've built so far, which helps make it look more unique.

As for the colours...I'll work on them when I've done the physical modelling. They're always rough at the initial stages!

I suppose, I think I prefer the old design though. I know this is more accurate to the show, but it just looks, yeah fungal I guess, but that just doesn't fit a robot in my mind. But this is early stage so I'll wait until you show a more complete version.
