Description
"...you have been chosen as Green Lantern of Sector 2917."For no real reason at all, a humanised Dalek as a member of that great cadre of emerald avengers. Because the humanised Daleks from Evil of the Daleks are a much more interesting take on the whole 'human dalek' thing, because Beta is the odd one out of the original, choo-choo-train trio (with Omega being captured and probably exterminated and Alpha going on to star in the stokingly brilliant 'Children of the Revolution' comic strip) and because any member of the Corp who got lumbered with Skaro as their turf would have a damn hard time of it. Yes, probably harder than Apokolips. Becuase, when the Doctor isn't around, the Daleks win. All. The. Time. Even when you think you've got them on the run, it just means you missed the overall strategy. Or that you missed that one tiny group on an asteroid somewhere who will just build up everything you just knocked down. (Go and listen to Dalek Empire, The Apocalypse Element or Patient Zero if you don't believe me...)
So yes. Beta as a Green Lantern. Thanks to a chat over at Livejournal.

Now here's my question. Where'd they put the ring? The sucker-cups can morph into any shape they need, but the gun would seem more ideal, wouldn't it? hmm...

On Beta, it's on the sucker arm. On Zeg (rage), it's on the gun.
I decided why have it one way when I could do both!

I just watched Evil of the Daleks. When those Daleks started playing Train I thought the universe was going to explode and my jaw literally dropped. And then I couldn't stop cracking up! And now I just feel sorry for Omega. Poor wee Dalek- I have to read this "Children of Time". Is it canon?

Hah! Another convert! And yeah - poor Omega. It's not healthy to be an innocent in the capital city of the Daleks...
And 'Children of the Revolution', like most expanded universe Doctor Who story, is more or less as canon as you want it to be. Unlike, say, the novel 'Lungbarrow' it hasn't been contradicted on screen, so if you want to believe it happened (like me) you can without any difficulty.
If you want to get hold of it, it's in the collected comic Graphic Novel 'Oblivion', which features expanded scenes from its original run in DWM 312-317.

Okay that last paragraph you gave me...might as well have been speaking Greek. Now I guess I'll have to go look at my local comic book store. Wait- do I even have a local comic book store? 0'o

Woah...how long is each comic...story-thingy? 0'o
I'm not sure I'll get interested in comics. I've always considered them that realm of nerd-dom into which I dare not dwell. I don't imagine myself saying "In issue 24 page 17 Superman rescues Louis Lane by flying at 100 miles per second per second..."
But man do I want to read that Children of the Revolution!

Each story is made up of two, three, four or five parts (with the occasional one shot). Each part is about...6-7 pages long. That collection contains...around 7 or 8 stories from what I can remember.
The Eight Doctor comics are some of the best to ever appear in the Doctor Who Magazine (DWM!) and are well worth reading. They see the return of classic villains like the Celestial Toymaker, the Daleks and the Cybermen and even revisit ideas and tie up loose ends from much earlier runs of the comic. Even if you don't know this niche of Doctor Who expanded universe very well, they're well worth reading, with some great art and some genuinely emotionally moving moments.
Boy, did that ever sound like an advert. But it's all true!

Oh it didn't feel like an advert to me! Well unless adverts are clear, concise, informative, and appealing, because my interest is sure peaked.
I'm sure that in the next few weeks the idea will cement and hide in my mind and I'll wake up one day and immediately head to a comic store to find it. The power of suggestion has been put into action
I just have to come to terms with myself that by pure interest in something I am slowly but surely fulfilling every single stereotype of a nerd and geek possible. That and I'm just a Scrooge about spending money on tv shows and fandom sorts of things.

This one is. He got a dose of the 'Human Factor' and so embodies all humanity's best characteristics. And the ability to play Choo-Choo trains like no one else in the cosmos!

The idea of this cracks me up, yet is also very nifty. The execution is great, too. I can't tell whether this was a 3D representation or not, but it has that quality to it. Also, the lantern = adorable! Great job.
