Not as far as I know. In the original story, they are simply grown out of vats of a crystal slurry - their molecules are dispressed and suspended in liquid for storage when they need to hibernate.

I love this. You've kept true to the origional design very well, from the diamond head to the wierd cloaky thing. It looks like some divine entity now.
One question, do their heads still spin around frantically when something goes wrong?
