Description The first of two entries in this 'database' inspired directly by the TV21 comic strips - this Dalek Emperor is a hybrid of the 'Golden Emperor', the 'Evil Emperor' and my Dalek design. And it came out not looking all that bad...which is amazing because the Golden Emperor design is just plain daft, when you really think about it.

Terry Nation created the Daleks - although I believe he more or less disowned the ol'bubble head.

It very much depends which Emperor you mean. There are at least three styles of design used throughout Doctor Who history.

The emperor is also the reason for most of my troubles... He's not reading this...Is he?

Yes,Spitfire. He IS reading this. Might want to run to your bomb shelter.

Too late. Whatever you do,do not open the door to whoever is knocking on it,and run to a super-safe hiding place before the Emperor destroys your door and kills you.

That is obvious, he is a leader, not much for combat, though, I realize that the UNSC from Halo can defeat the Daleks, so yah, I think I'll call them to blow up a dalek armada.

It has claws? I admit, I've only seen images and snatches of it on Youtube...

Not too fond of what I've seen. I don't really like having bits of the casing floating free, though it does look quite impressive all the same.

Laharl234 [2010-12-15 07:50:18 +0000 UTC]

Y'know, Doctor Who's been a little inconsistent with the Dalek Emperor's appearance, as opposed to the Cyber-Controller whose Mondasian form has always been with a dome head, and his Cybus form has only been seen once so we can't say (though the Leader-Controller substitute the Cyber-Lord looks similar to the Controller). I like people like you who fuse the Dalek Emperor designs into something more consistent.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Librarian-bot In reply to Laharl234 [2010-12-20 23:19:17 +0000 UTC]

Eh, the variation is probably mainly down to budget over and above anything else - and of course the fact that completely different teams were handling it each time.

Cyber leaders are much easier to create and recreate than a Dalek emperor, who has been established as being bigger than the average Dalek, especially when you're spending your budget on a full scale Dalek Shuttle craft or a million CGI Daleks...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Laharl234 In reply to Librarian-bot [2010-12-21 11:27:49 +0000 UTC]

Different teams were handling the Mondas Cyber-Controller between his two appearances. Though on a side note the Dalek Emperor only appeared once in the original series, the Controller appeared twice. In fact the Dalek Emperor's only appeared a grand total of twice in the course of the TV series. Though Davros' Emperor casing looked like the above guy (was even white).

I mean I'm sure your reasons are correct: different production teams, budget restraints, etc. But it's just some interesting thoughts.

Although the Supreme One Dalek Supreme had a design variation similar to how Emperors are usually made.

Also on a final Emperor note, City of the Daleks makes a slight continuity error with the Dalek Emperor shell. See in its pre-restoration appearance where it's damaged, the eyestalk resembles a NDP eyestalk, but since it's an old casing from the Time War it SHOULD look like the previous Dalek incarnation's eyestalks.

Funny to think that, in a sense, the Daleks also regenerated this time, alongside the Doctor.

The Dalek Emperor for the New Dalek Paradigm, not bad, except that the emperor was established to be blue, and in an immobile casing similar to the one show in Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways. This was established in the Doctor WHo Adventure Game: City of the Daleks. This doesn't stop me loving this emperor and wishing this one to be real instead

Librarian-bot In reply to ThePauleric [2010-11-10 10:10:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

Oh, this just me having fun. I know what it was like in that game...although I'm dubious about the canonicity of them...though 'canonicity' and Doctor Who rarely have much to do with each other! I just wasn't about to paint an Emperor Dalek eggshell blue.

I mean...pale blue? Who thought that was a good idea?

ThePauleric In reply to Librarian-bot [2010-11-10 19:18:46 +0000 UTC]

Steven Moffet probably did, wait... did Steven write the City of the Daleks... Still, this one is much better. Also, there is a continuity error when they go back in time to before the Eye of Time arrives at Kalaan, the Emperor is a New Pradigm style, when it should be like the one in Bad Wold/Parting of the Ways. Infact, there shouldn't even be an Emperor there, because he was on the ship in the Time War and not on Skaro, infa Skaro was destroyed in the Time War so not even that should be there... SO MANY CONTINUITY ERRORS O_O

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Librarian-bot In reply to ThePauleric [2010-11-10 19:30:11 +0000 UTC]

If you haven't already looked it up, it was Phil Ford who wrote it.

And yeah, it is a continuity error...but I understand why it happened, since having two models would have bumped up the file sizes etc. I think though that it's less of a problem for it to be there, since it's possible that it was just an empty casing...and even if it wasn't, there's an idea knocking around that there were more than one of them during the Time War...

Then again, it's a Time War we're talking about, which kind of throws all bets off...

ThePauleric In reply to Librarian-bot [2010-11-10 19:37:58 +0000 UTC]

I read on the Wiki about the possibility of there being 4 Dalek Emperors during the Time War. The one encountered in Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways (This one was Dalek Prime, the Dalek that exterminated Davros in Genesis of the Daleks) The one in Kalaan (Or however you spell it) Davros (Still posing as Emperor after the Dalek Civil War) and another one (The true Dalek Emperor from the Civil War)

Yes...the wonders of Dalek continuity (hah!) make that eminently plausible. (Although I'm one of those people who discount the whole War of the Daleks/Dalek Prime stuff...)
