Description With all due deference to Mr Moffat, I don't think 'Eternal' sounds like a name the Daleks would come up with. And the burbly voiced Time-Controller in 'Patient Zero' could perhaps be equated to the odd-voiced gold Dalek in 'Day of the Daleks'...at a stretch.

Terry Nation created the Daleks.

I believe that the Time Controllers are the leaders of the Eternal.

I didn't put them on this version. I probably will if I remake it.

You know yours really should qualify as some sort of parallel NDP. Like, real, not just as a fan thing. I can't really call yours or Moffat's designs better than each other, they sit parallel with each other and are both very good redesigns for the new and improved Dalek race.

Someone may have already suggested this but my theory is that the Eternal is in charge of the Progenitor and is supposed to ensure that the Daleks continue to survive indefinitely. Hence the title.

It may not be "Daleky" enough it does sound cool.

Yeah, I think I've seen that theory knocking around for a bit. I think it makes sense. I just prefered to use the 'time-controller' idea because of the classic precident for time travelling gold Daleks.

Maybe the Eternal, which with a name as regal as "eternal" should be a brilliant coat of gold but I digress, oversees the mass production of Glass Daleks as well. I think TeenDalek has a fantastic *no pun intended* idea,

Hmm...maybe...though from the one time we see a Dalek production line in operation, it seems to be drones running the show...still, that was 'in the field' as it were. Oh, and this particular shade of gold is taken (roughly speaking) from the 'gold' Dalek in Day of the Daleks, which explains the lack of lustre!

wow, that looks really good, i heard in the Doctor Who wikia that the Eternal Dalek was speculated to use the Temperal Displacement shift,

what do you think the Eternal Dalek can do?

what did you think of Patient Zero?

I think as far as I'd be prepared to go is that it's something to do with time travel. Or should be, given the name. If the writers don't even know what it is yet, it doesn't seem sensible to guess yet.

I thought Patient Zero was very good. An interesting, slightly different kind of story. The Time Controller was a great idea and the conclusion was very fitting.

Why Oh WHY didn't they give us a bronze or gold Dalek, like this? Canary Yellow? YUK!!

This is a vast improvement, you're right about the metallic colours.

Also, your little descriptions of the various castes are a nice touch (must have taken a while to work the stats out, right?), as I like the little diagram of each unit's armaments/epuipment in the bottom right too

The stats are completely made up and utterly approximate but more or less judged to match the subject. Rank and intelligence follow from Caste, everything else...fiddled with as I went along. Blame Age of Empires, trading card games and that attempt by someone on dA to produce a proper Doctor Who battle game - look up 'Dalek Buster' and you'll find what I mean. It seemed fun to follow suit and present the models this way.

I think I have a theory about what the 'Eternal' Dalek means. It's actially quite simple.
The Eternal is like the Cult of Skaro. It is resopnsible of coming up with ways to survive should the new Dalek Paradigm be destroyed,

Wow. That's actually a very good idea! It would make a lot of sense. I suppose I hit on this because of the temporal connection but your way would probably make more sense in context of the show...

Well unfortunately Steven Moffat is running the show, not you. So it's called the Eternal. They don't even know what it does, so trying to rename it Time Controller is pointless because that may not be its function at all.

It's called the Eternal, get used to it.

I have! I still don't think it a particularly Daleky name but it sounds ominous and I'm sure they'll eventually attach some very interesting function to it. Actually, I think the main reason it sounds out of place is because it's not immediately obvious what it does, like the others.

And I'm not trying to rename it, not really. True, my ideas about what the Eternal would do correspond with the Time-Controller but as you say, that might not be it at all. But this is a different design of Dalek, ifluenced heavily by the new ones but still quite distinct, and a different project all of my own. So I reserve the right to call them what I like.

And I'm very glad Steven Moffat is running the show. He's doing a far better job than I ever would!
