Description
And we have details, ladies, gentlemen and others! Also, very light hull-plating textures and man, I just do not have the patience for texturing. This is why I couldn't do this stuff for a living.
Anyway, not many changes to the superstructure at this point, just lots of small pieces added. I cut a few more windows and am debating with myself if I want to add many more. I'll probably put in the second row of windows under the saucer but I think I might leave the engineering hull as it is. I've definitely decided not to add the second airlock that the refit design has there; the one in the neck will suffice.
I finally decided to place the rear phaser bank at the bottom of the lower curve. Technically this means it has a restricted field of fire upwards, but I reckon one could plausibly argue that the saucer ones can cover most angles at the top, and at the ranges Trek ships fight, it'll be no issue either. Mainly, I didn't want to break the lines with lots of phaser bumps.
Not sure if I'll end up adding a glow to the subspace radiators at the back of the nacelles (that's the ball things for those who don't have the Haynes Workshop Manual on all Enterprises through to -E on hand - man is that getting a work-out on this build). If so, I'll work on the shape a bit more. Very pleased with how the sensor domes turned out though - definitely worth the work I did on them. Probably need to fill the void between the tractor beam emitter and rear phasers, so might whack on some aft photon tubes.
I have done a little bit more work on the visible bridge, but it's so low-detail right now it's not worth rendering. And by the way, if anyone knows some captain's chair plans on the internet with legible dimensions, I would be very grateful for the recommendation. Image searches are not turning up much that's useful!
Next steps will probably be completing the impulse engines and detailing a few of the voids I need to fill.
In the meantime, I still don't own Star Trek. In case you wondered.

Looks quite good, the only thing I'm not a fan of is the bridge window but I've accepted that this has become a standard feature since the Kelvin-timeline.

Cheers! I'm always tremendously unsure I've done enough detailing so it's nice to hear it's working out OK!
