*The plot is that Protoman has kidnapped dr. light and has 8 robot masters and is trying to take over the world. They also stole the 6 security chips for the secret {Battle Electronic Aerial Targeting) or BEAT for short. Thankfully the system can not be activated unless they have all 6 chips.
Mega Man 5 gave us:

-the most epic character ever. "BEAT" the bird was an awesome bird that would attack enemies wherever they were, using energy for only attacks that hit. *Beat would be severely under-powered for every game after this*

-Also it introduced the "M-Tank" which would refill ALL your weapons and your energy.

- near the end an "L-tank" that acts like an E-tank but is instantly used upon transfer. Completely restores all your energy.
