I like to save cereal boxes, junk mail, toy boxes, and scratch paper to use as backings for the tape patterns- going to throw it all away in the end anyway, might as well get some use out of this stuff before then.
It takes a while to figure out where to cut darts in your patterns... if you mess up, you can just repair the cut with more tape and try again. After a while, you'll just "know". My headcovers follow the same consistent formula of shapes in general, except on critters with a drastically different facial shape from the norm.
Keep the pattern pieces while you're working on the headcover, if you ever get confused as to how certain pieces fit together, you can just refer back to the markings and notes you wrote on the pattern itself.

Very very little. Some parts, only a couple milimeters, up to around 1/8th inch. Experience over a long period of time will tell you where needs more seam allowance and what parts need less.

what kind of tape do you use? i just taped my head and attempted removing it when all the foam began ripping...yikes. so any suggestions?

Quick question- do you cut round the templates or fur to make them bigger and to allow more seam allowance? I've been furring a head at the moment and as yours looks way better than mine I was curious
